Reviews of YourMembership
Alternatives Considered:
Great value for your money. Always improving, with no need to upgrade.
Comments: YM delivered a stable, reliable platform to 15 of our associations and allowed us to shift investment to other proprieties without losing features.
Pros:
Community Brands continues to invest in the YM platform, and as a SaaS product, upgrades are delivered on a regular basis without the need for continuous testing by the user base.
Cons:
Occasionally, your product enhancement request can be lost among the hundreds of other customers using the product. It is best to team up with other customers to upvote your recommendations.
Alternatives Considered:
Single site for our members
Comments: Provides me an easy way to review dues and donation payments. Much better than what we had before.
Pros:
Being a portal for our members, the site allows searching for other members via numerous criteria.
Cons:
Many of our older members do not take advantage of the site as much as we might like. Not YM's fault at all. They are just not into anything online at all.
OASBO input
Comments: Not bad but we are looking for another product to be able to accommodate our needs we are currently use 2 other products in addition to YourMembership
Pros:
User friendly to use & support is great.
Cons:
We wish that YourMemberhsip had an Event App and an Exhibitor platform with a floor plan where Vendors can register and select their Booths.

Best All-Encompassing Member Solution for Organizations Without an IT Department?
Comments:
YM has allowed us to:
a) unify all our different country operations on to a single software base;
b) replace a range of on-premises systems with a single cloud solution; and
c) meet the modern expectations of our members and customers without having to have an IT Department.
Pros:
We selected YM because it covers all the bases needed by a non-profit member organization (website, member management, donation management, groups, events and online store) in one comprehensive package. More than that - and this is the clincher - it is designed for organizations with little or no internal IT capability. You don't need a server, special equipment, or even to know programming in order to deploy and configure the solution. It is a true cloud solution, with everyone always on the same latest version - so support is excellent and enhancements always ongoing.
Cons:
When you buy a system like YM you need to be aware that: a) you won't be getting 'best in class' in each specific area of functionality (i.e. there are better web stores than the one in YM, better event management solutions than the one in YM, etc.) - but I don't think you will find a better solution across all areas; and b) this is not custom software, YM aren't going to change the software just to suit your business (rather you need to bend your business to suit the software) - having said that, YM is incredibly configurable (including the entire look and feel of the web front-end) so this isn't at all a major issue.

Switching to YM Was a Leap In Improving our Backend Admin and Supporting Our Members
Comments: It has been excellent. First, we spent about 3 months meeting weekly with a YM rep ([SENSITIVE CONTENT]) to learn the system and to format our website main page. She was great to work with, very patient with us, and answered all of our questions to ensure we had a successful launch. The options and products that YM offers actually helped us to move away from some of the outsourcing that we previously had to do for some of these processes. This also helped to reduce cycle time for processes and allow our admin to spend more time on other tasks vs spending large amounts of time of fixing issues. The support system is good. It is easy to search for a topic when you can not remember how to do something are trying to do something for the first time. The write-ups or videos they have are good or you can always call and talk to someone! Most importantly, our members are way more pleased with their experience when navigating through the website for information or events than they were with our old website with our previous vendor.
Pros:
Transitioning to the YM was a lot of work but easier than I thought. A lot of work from our end in learning YM but our members found the transition to be easy and they appreciated the ease of use when logging in or when navigating the website. Easy to set up custom pages for events and for general information for our website. We can easily do more things ourselves because of the ease and flexibility of the software such as: event pages, member information, calendar of events, marketing emails, various member levels/categories, customizing certain aspects of the website, and making changes in all of these areas.
Cons:
Some aspects of the website are not flexible to change but it is not anything that is a show stopper. Ex: There is a place on the website that allows for a scrolling list of new members. But it will only list the names by first initial and last name. We wanted to list the name by first name and last name. Not a big deal but it would be a nice option to have.

Andy, thank you so much for the review! We are so happy to hear that switching to YM has helped your staff to spend their time where it matters (on your members and organization!) and not on frustrating and time-consuming issues. We are so glad that your new website has helped to improve your members' experience with your organization.
Nice product pity about the service
Comments: Very unsatisfactory. We were convinced to adopt the YM website capability which looks fine. Our not very complex design for Home page and additional pages is already past the one anniversary ! (only have had a home page design so far!)
Pros:
Extensive member management and dues capability
Cons:
Flexibility to change website is severely impacted by lack of Your membership development resources. Paid for development cycles are not met, and delayed continually
Alternatives Considered:
Poor Support is not their only problem....
Comments: I have a urgent problem with YM at this moment -- and you can NEVER get them on the phone. It takes HOURS and HOURS if not DAYS to get responses to problems. And the response you normally get is NO- the system cant do that- or you will manually have to edit 300 records. You can't change your membership renewal date. Updates to the application are MINIMAL at best. They did roll out an email upgrade which may have helped with SPAM -- can't tell for sure if it helped. It has been about the only real upgrade I have seen in the membership side of the system. They seem to focus more of their efforts on their other applications and not YourMembership. I wish someone had told me all this when I selected YM.
Pros:
I can't say I am in love with any of the features -- it works -- but there is nothing that just says -- if I didn't have this I couldn't do my job.
Cons:
The CRM piece of this application is piss-poor at best. I guess coming from major CRM software application with hundreds of features and flexibility and being an expert on Wordpress -- the lack of flexibility in the site for managing custom pages is horrible. They should just offer a Wordpress plugin for membership management by embedding member management functions into a wordpress site -- because they suck at CRM. My Advice -- Use Wordpress for your primary site tool -- and try to embed their membership page into your wordpress site somehow. I may try to convert this way because I am tired of trying to code pages into thier site -- when tools exist such as wordpress that can easily do everything.

Great Software!
Comments: The service is outstanding. My implementation person ([SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]) has been very responsive and helpful!
Pros:
There are several things that are really great about this software - it makes managing an association easy. Having the option for auto-pay is huge and the system is flexible so that we can really make exactly what we need. We are really striving to do everything in one system versus many so YM has really streamlined all of our processes.
Cons:
*Need to add duplicate search for Non Members - This is VITAL! We have tons of wasted records because there is no duplicate search for Non Members *Better way to match non member with member when the non member uses the organization name of a company that is a member *Main Dashboard needs to be configurable - I would love to add most recent email results, active quiz/survey results and non member details. Also a notification of a member switching between types *The email feature was sold to me as it was comparable to Constant Contact - it is not at all and shouldn't be sold that way. Very annoying that I can't resize pictures and add more widgets. The email feature also doesn't automatically remove duplicates so people are getting several copies of emails (also part of the issue about the non member duplicate check). It is also supposed to show the hard bounces but the report shows one number but then I get 100 bounces (delivery failure) emails to my email. *Would like to hide profile fields that we don't use from administrator view
PNW Review of Your membership
Comments: I enjoy the YM membership database as it gives me all the information on our current members and lapsed members. It is a great tool to assist those members that have not yet logged into their account and try to help them to use the Chapter membership database and take advantage of the Yourmembership benefits offered.
Pros:
The integration was easy to use and learn. I like the email campaigns that go to all the members. This is easy to use and a great time saver on sending updates. The reports are a great tool to use for pulling special member reports. The ease of entering new members is a plus. We import new members form our outside Headquarters and this is a great tool.
Cons:
I don't like the option to invoice members for renewals because if they do not pay the renewal - we need to credit the invoice and both transactions are sent to our quick books. When in quick books we can see both the pledge the month it was submitted to the member - but several weeks or even a month later if they do not renew we have to issue a credit. This then shows up in quick books and difficult to determine what it is. Therefore because of this I no longer send membership renewal invoice out as it is an accounting nightmare. I wish there were a easier way to send membership renewals without being sent to quick books.
Your Membership
Pros:
Attractive website.[sensitive content hidden] is an outstanding support to us.
Cons:
Design capabilities are very limited unless you know code very well.
Good value, but missing key components
Comments: There are some amazing folks at YM, but the support seems cyclical ... times when you get timely, responsive help; times when you get ignored.
Pros:
YM is Inexpensive, and it is also relatively easy to learn;.
Cons:
The accounting side of YM is sorely lacking, as it membership tracking.
A VERY basic AMS and struggling to keep up.
Comments: Last year, they were down because they didn't understand SQL and had issues. The WHOLE system was down off and on for over a month. It paralyzed us. Our only consolation, it happened to everyone, not just us. Management is removed from the everyday member and it shows. Overall, the system has done the barebasics OK, but if you venture out into other areas like email marketing, events, community engagement, the system doesn't do anything beyond the basics well.
Pros:
It is generally simple to edit a webpage. Finding a member is generally also simple. The integration with the website is OK BUT you are on your own for design.
Cons:
1. slow support 2. staff that don't follow up or inform you of support status for DAYS when you have an outage 3. The API is quirky and constantly giving us issues that our third party always finds is YM's issue. We were recently down for 3 days because they couldn't white list an API return URL properly. 4. Get ready to be just a number. 5. Calendaring features for recurring events doesn't work. You configure 8 events and it shows 4 online leaving you the option of configuring every event individually IF You want it to work correctly.
A Great Customizable Platform
Comments: The experience has been good. We have integrated the basic platform with Freestone's learning platform, and have several pages linked to other services. The integration is seemless.
Pros:
YourMembership is almost entirely customizable, and their support team is always available to help. Once setup, I save hours a week by pulling customizable dynamic reports and by reviewing the critical information on the dashboard.
Cons:
I find the email blast portion is clunky. I cannot duplicate a campaign and the HTML editor and preview show the page differently than when it is sent out. I've learned to review the campaigns from several platforms outside of YM to preview.
YourMembership, the software provider an association needs.
Comments: The overall experience has been amazing and a breath of fresh air in this world with so much work. It can take a load off of a person's shoulders.
Pros:
YM has amazing features to keep the work easier to do and accommodating in terms of time and money. The events feature is what i like the most followed by the membership dues and online store.
Cons:
Please improve the events with sessions section in terms of certification obtained after attending such. We should be able to distinguish who attended what session.
Do your homework...YM is not a turnkey solution for all organizations, lousy customer service.
Pros:
Software has some interesting features, but not all were useful to our organization. Best pro: it's very easy to maintain a decent looking public facing website. Email marketing tools are excellent.
Cons:
After the initial six-week set up, we were pretty much left to the wolves. We hired one of their recommended consultants to help us prepare our database for implementation to the system, but our dues schedule was too complex to be completely integrated, so we were forced to maintain two databases (one for membership services and communications, and the other for financials -- not an ideal setup, to say the least, but we were too far in to quit). Due to the difficulty for obtaining quick support solutions, our staff never fully bought in. Dealing with YM's customer support was always was hit or miss -- it really depends on your issue and which YM support member you reach. This isn't easy to control. To obtain support, you must create a ticket, which is prioritized by the company's support team , who then answers in order and/or importance. Answers to questions can take 48 hours, which is frustrating. The upshot for our organization is that we ditched YM after 3 years. On top of all that, the cancellation process was a bit murky as well, and we were even charged several months after we moved on to another AMS. Some of the blame for that was on us, but YM certainly didn't help clear the waters with the cancellation process. Overall, I can not recommend this software provider.
Not for Trade Organizations
Comments: All of the deficiencies listed above were frustrating, time-consuming, and took away from the real objectives of our organization. Unfortunately, more times than not, the customer service we received when trying to work through issues was lacking in consistency and expertise.
Pros:
The front end website was linked to the back end administration. But then again, shouldn't they all be?
Cons:
**The user experience of my members was so inadequate, we had to discourage members from registering for events or education online. The number of calls we fielded because of access was incredibly inconvenient, but we had to help our members the best we could. **I had a complex dues structure and YM did not have the capacity or understanding to meet our needs. We could not allow new members to register online because the calculations in the programming couldn't handle the variables. **The export/import with Quickbooks was ineffective. We had to do so many adjustments once the data was imported to QB, and it took a significant amount of time. I actually lost my 3rd party accountant (a CPA) because of how cumbersome the process was. I had to spend extra time researching where to "reclass" the items that were dumped into a "holding accounts" so that my accountant could make the adjustments. Journal entries were abundant and threatened our credibility with the Board.
Highly recommend YM to other associations
Comments: Very positive, I enjoy using YM and would highly recommend it to colleagues.
Pros:
Overall easy to use and navigate. Customer support is TOP NOTCH, especially with the new chat feature offered.
Cons:
There need to be multiple invoice template options, especially for membership renewal time.

Amanda, thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience using YourMembership! Our team strives to help small staff associations like yours to achieve your goals and mission! We are so glad to hear that your team views our customer support as a beneficial and reliable resource.
Great System
Pros:
I love the ease and convenience across the web design, membership management and the On-Demand educational component.
Cons:
We have a few difficulties getting speedy responses on open tickets from time to time, and would like a few membership cleanup fields edited but overall it's great.

Jason, thank you for the review! As an all-in-one solution for small staffs, we are glad to hear that your team has found success in managing your membership, website, and member education with YM.
Great All-In-One Option
Comments: We have had a great experience thus far with YM! If we needed help getting something set up or corrected, we are able to contact support and receive almost immediate assistance. The ability to collect membership dues, event registration payments, provide an informative website, manage membership records, etc. all in one place is great and it's easy to use.
Pros:
I like that everything we do is in one spot! We are able to manage our website, database and memberships, as well as events all with YM. I also have found it quite user friendly which is nice when I do not have much time to devote to figuring out how it works.
Cons:
I wish it were a little easier to see our membership numbers but we have more than one organization represented in our database so I'm not sure if that's possible and I have not had the time to talk through with YM what our possibilities are with finding a solution to something like that.
Expected more
Comments: If you have a lot of time to invest in reading all the FAQs and/or How to's you will get along great with the customer service team.
Pros:
Easy to update website from the database side.
Cons:
For a membership based program, it's lacking in simple reports to pull quality data; creating an event is very challenging; and customer service seems to be too busy to help...either doesn't answer same day or rushes you off the phone. They want you to fix the problem. I love being able to do my own thing and learn about the database; however, sometimes you need help. They do not like to help.
YM for the Win
Comments:
There are a great many things that I really appreciate about the YourMembership platform.
There are a ton of features at your fingertips that can benefit your association that you probably hadn't thought of or previously hadn't had the ability to facilitate. Career Centers and integrated Blog and Forum platforms to Merchant Services and Event Management all residing in one space make it hard to argue that you were doing it all just as well before.
I'm not exactly an novice to website design and appreciate coding without a WYSIWYG editor, (What You See Is What You Get) but the ease of use for someone who has had limited exposure to website administration should be able to get the hang of things pretty quickly.
On the downside, YourMembership is a newer platform and still has some wrinkles. The team over there is definitely working to iron them out, but every once in a while you'll hit on something that hasn't been addressed before and there isn't currently a fix for it. Going into it though, you should probably expect that from a platform that is designed to be everything for everyone. Everyone has certain ways they like to do things or ideas on how things should be done, and at times, the YM platform has its own ideas and ways that you then have to adapt to accommodate.
So in conclusion, YourMembership has been a wonderful experience so far. We're an Association Management Company and handle multiple organizations so we have thrown all sorts of problems at YourMembership, and they've fielded all but the most finicky with relative ease and minimal cost. The individuals that I've interacted with have all been attentive, friendly and eager to help out. All that and they are constantly evolving with new feature pushes, better solutions for common problems and frequent fixes that keep everything feeling fresh and a bit exciting (that sounds lame and nerdy, but when a cool new feature comes out, I have a tendency to check it out right away). From switching between no less than 4 CMS platforms, 3 event management tools, and 3 Merchant Solutions providers to get things done, to only having to fiddle in YourMembership has been a huge sigh of relief. YourMembership has been good to us so far and I'd recommend giving it a go without hesitation.
Initially very frustrating and painful, the set up didn't feel intuitive, and confusing.
Comments: Everything is under one platform.
Pros:
I like that key features and functionality are under one platform. And that you can set up pages to edit from both the front and back end of the website.
Cons:
Some of the functionality seems outdated (ex. unable to attach documents when sending a group email within a specific group). I think YM is set up to best manage member records when created in YM. Importing a detailed member database as I have to do is not easy in YM. Based on my past experience, deleting a group is beyond tedious and difficult. The member search function is sometimes quirky (ex. the member included their middle name initial, but you didn't include in the search, you get "record not found"). There are some features that are located in places that are not intuitive (ex. group management is under Website/Social but you first have to go to Features.
Easy to use, performs great, and great support!
Comments: The customer service is particularly amazing with YM. Questions are always answered quickly and fully. I've never had a single issue that wasn't fully explained or resolved. Those issues that couldn't be resolved were addressed by YM staff in full and oftentimes they would offer a workaround, which is incredibly helpful.
Pros:
For association management, this product is the perfect function and price point. While some websites could maybe offer more graphically or fancy options, with non-profits this product helps provide the exact functionality needed as well as an ease of use to make updates and changes.
Cons:
Sometimes the functions are hard coded (a lot of language on the forms or store purchases), but there is always a way to workaround the features that are hard coded, so we don't find it a severe issue, especially with the cost.
Great Membership Software
Comments: I've been using it for seven years now and it is a great product, very flexible, lots of great features.
Pros:
I love it because it has capabilities for managing membership types, dues, events, groups, communications. The look and feel is great and it's pretty intuitive. The ability to sell merchandise and event tickets is really helpful and I can create a CRM of non-member types is really helpful too. Terrific tech support, when I call, they help me. That is HUGE.
Cons:
I can't think of anything it won't do for me, it's just what i need to manage my members.
YourMembership is decent when it actually works.
Comments: YourMembership staff is friendly and responsive, the features meet most of our needs but the site performance is awful.
Pros:
It meets all of our basic needs for an association software management.
Cons:
YourMembership has constant issues with performance or being outright down. We understand that there are going to always be issues that pop up when dealing with technology. The latest issue has lasted 3 days and for most of that time our website has been completely down.
