### "A pretty good build it yourself Game Engine" — 4.0/5

> **Pros**: Panda3D pretty awesome open-source game engine when you want to build games with Python. Also, as it is completely and truly free without royalties, license payments or registrations, it is really helpful for small studios that cannot afford to spend big on the game engine itself. Also, because of its BSD license, you can customize this engine to your preferences and use it. It is really a breath of fresh air when compared to other "free" game engines that you need to pay one way or the other.

> **Cons**: In panda3D, you have to do most of the stuff by yourself. There are no easy and time saving plugins or packages that cut down your work time, when compared to the massive third party tools and the resources provided by other game engines. So, you do learn more when using Panda3D, but you will also have to do more, and thus spend more time to make games.
> 
> It was a good learning experience when using Panda3D, and although not really viable for professional game development in my opinion (due to time constraints), it is a good tool to learn and create in python.

> **Pros**: I love the fact that Panda3D Open Source and that you can use Python to make pretty awesome 3D games. It also comes with a robust support for many 3rd party libraries such as Assimp and FMOD that I use every time, and setting things up isn't much of a pain as expected. And being Open Source, the possibility that I could modify Panda3D to my own liking and needs is really a huge plus point.

> **Cons**: When compared to ready-to-use solutions like Unity or Godot, Panda3D can take some effort to setup, configure with the latest libraries and get going. Also it lacks a marketplace where you could get some ready-made assets and then plug in to your game if you lack the skills or the time. Also, making builds to deploy your creations on mobile and other platforms does require some tinkering which entails more time. So, while it is a great and a fantastic hobbyist Game SDK, I find it hard to use it on a professional project with real time constraints.

> Panda3D will always be my choice for some 3D experimentations with Python. Using it is a fun on its own, and I got to learn a lot of things that was abstracted in other game engines.
