Excellent MDM choice for small/medium sized businesses

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Extremely positive overall experience. Highly recommended.

Pros:

Jamf Pro is a highly commendable mobile device management solution that offers seamless MDM integration. Its unobtrusive process makes it an excellent option for businesses seeking to maintain smooth workflows. The platform also facilitates easy enforcement of IT policies, making it a suitable choice for companies striving to ensure compliance with their policies. Furthermore, Jamf Pro is particularly adept at handling mixed deployments of company-owned MacBooks and BYOD iPhones. All things considered, Jamf Pro is a first-rate MDM platform that delivers exceptional value and performance.

Cons:

My only major gripe is that the client software is a bit clunky, especially where non-technical users have to choose what to download from an app library.

Perfect product for Apple device management

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: The software is really well made and you’ll get great control over your apple devices. We have tested lots of platforms but this one is my favorite.

Pros:

Great real-time dashboards about every needed aspect for the whole Apple device inventory at a glance made it convenient to decide easily about the future projects.

Cons:

Implementing the jamf pro for the first time needed patience and continuous improvement so that we can reach an stable level, sometimes even changing settings related to automation requires some scripting experience.

If you use Macs in your organization Jamf Pro is the right tool

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Our staff have limited computer skills and often get themselves in trouble (phishing, malware, etc). Jamf Pro allows us to protect them from their mistakes. We do not give Admin access but do provide most software they might want in Self Service. We can also take care of the updates and installs for them so they just use what they need.

Pros:

The way it integrates with Apple systems like DEP and VPP make it a truly unique product. Apple has created a secure "walled garden" for their hardware. Jamf is the only tool of its kind that has access into this walled garden. Being able to buy a Mac from our custom Apple store, ship it to a user, and have them set it up with Jamf...all without IT ever needing to touch the device...is amazing. It can do just about anything else you need it to: install software, block software, update software, set security settins, remote lock, remote wipe, notify users of important events, and of course much more through Self Service.

Cons:

It is a very robust tool, but you need to know how to use it. Many of the best features you do need to set up and build out. That can require some scripting or other technical details, or some administrative steps to work out with Apple and your local business representative. However, it is all very possible and you will get there.

We can see you.

4.0 last year

Comments: So far, its all smiles and the team is learning m,ore about this tool daily.

Pros:

Deployment of Jamf Pro finally gave us visibility of IT assets that had previously been categorized as ghost IT. We were given the ability to see, fix, and control devices that were not available to us and now we are working towards achieving compliance standards for security and patch management.

Cons:

This is not Jamf specific, but we did not have as much input on implementation and customization as we would have liked. Sales guided us towards an out of the box deployment.

Efficient Device Management with Jamf Pro

5.0 last year

Pros:

I appreciated Jamf Pro's user-friendly interface and robust features that streamlined device management. It made tasks efficient and offered great control over our Apple ecosystem.

Cons:

Although generally satisfied, one drawback was the learning curve for some advanced features. Additionally, occasional updates caused minor disruptions in our workflow.

Jamf Pro in a 10k+ company

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

Easy to use and understand cloud management of corporate devices. Highly customisable to your own liking making zero touch deployment on all our devices possible. Distributing, updating and maintaining software packages (albeit with the help of 3rd party solutions) is easy and helps to keep your devices up-to-date and safe.

Cons:

Patch management should be made easier. The app catalog area seems to be more of a beta instead of a polished product.

Great for end users but can be a processor hog

5.0 8 months ago

Pros:

It makes getting remote assistance very easy for me as an end user

Cons:

Seems to run in the background a lot and use a lot of CPU time, especially in conjunction with Chrome; sometimes my (not new) MacBook heats up from it.

Still best of breed - but might be overwhelming in funcionality for small and medium businesses

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Still my solution of choice - tried competitors but they fail the trial procedure in very early stage

Pros:

Thorough training and certification programme, very responsive and helpful user community (Jamf Nation), still probably the most powerful mobile device management solution for macOS/iOS-fleets

Cons:

sometimes not very responsive in the remediation of product issues, kinda pricy and feature-wise overloaded for average businesses without advanced requirements

Best Apple device management platform in existance

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: While no company is perfect, JAMF has really gone out of their way to take care of us as both customers and admins. I'm in education so they're not making any money off is (given the high level of support everyone receives). There are no tiers of service, no packages for support, and no BS. You will be treated and supported very well. JAMFs training options are also the best I've ever attended. I have yet to try the virtual trainings though.

Pros:

Day 1 support of all Apple releases, full roadmap compatibility with Apple, and dedication to the integration of Apple products at the enterprise level. It has allowed me the flexibility and capacity to provide a truly world class user experience without the world class investment and effort.

Cons:

It certainly could have better remote support features. It HAS remote support, but really only on the local network. Mind you, I don't really need additional remote support capacity, but it would be nice.

JAMF PRO - You cannot manage mac's effectively any other way.

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Through JAMF Pro we are utilizing zero touch deployment, cross domain authentication to our fleet through Nomad Login (JAMF Connect), deployment of applications to our iOS devices utilizing Apple VPP and its integration with the JAMF Pro platform. We are able to easily manage the deployment of patches using Patch Management and more. There is no better way to manage a mac outside of JAMF.

Pros:

As a user of JAMF PRO since the days when it was called Casper, I can safely say that this product is a constant evolution of itself and as it pertains to Apple hardware, software, admin and user needs. Considering the product is on a zero day release schedule always means we are ready to manage devices and workstations upon the latest release of an OS build. It has allowed use to customize our deployment packages, settings and enrollment styles. Having the ability for zero touch enrollment and deployment of systems is without a doubt the most influential feature of our JAMF Pro installation. Getting machines up and ready is a breeze with JAMF Pro, long term management is even easier.

Cons:

JAMF rarely has anything we dislike. Over the years their menus have evolved for the better. The user interface has improved drastically. i would say as they grow, to continue to keep the product suite obtainable by educational users. Products which havent recently released such as Jamf Protect are a bit cost prohibitive, it would be nice if they were bundled into the Jamf Pro suite.

Best in Class

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Excellent IT tools. The community Jamf have created around their products is second to none. Jamf Pro has helped my career immensely.

Pros:

Jamf Pro is far and away the best product I have used to manage Apple computers in an enterprise environment. Its easy to use, the learning curve is short. Jamf Pro is reliable and powerful. There's a reason it has become the industry standard for Apple device management. Support from Jamf and from the Jamf Nation community is second to none. I know if I have a problem I can turn to Jamf Support or Jamf Nation for help finding a solution.

Cons:

I would like to see a more customizable, dynamic GUI. I would like to be able to dynamically drag around items in the Dashboard. Clicking on items to remove them from view in the Dashboard would also be very helpful for cleanup and organization. I would also like to see better effort in improving Patch Management.

Good all-in-one

4.0 7 years ago

Comments: Inventory and asset tracking, single location to manage all macs, lots of community support

Pros:

jamf has an advantage of having MDM and policy/self-service built-in to one, and it manages macOS and iOS in the same platform. There are a lot of things that jamf does really well, and being one of the larger platforms it has a great community around it.

Cons:

jamf has a lot of limitations and does some things poorly. They have grown in their release cycle which has helped with Apple's quickly changing landscape, but there's still a lot that is customized. Often you don't know there's a limitation until you're in the weeds and realize that jamf doesn't do it at all or doesn't do it well. Our environment (and most) have a lot of customization in order for it to run smoothly

Great experiences with Jamf over the past few years but there are quality issues creeping in

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

The best in class MDM management that allows us to get really creative with how we serve our user base. The API is flexible and allows our developers to use Jamf in collaboration with a number of other tools.

Cons:

Quality control around recent releases, where the push to meet new Apple functionality seems to come at the expense of function of existing features. A more robust test and release process is needed. Feature requests can languish for a long time with seemingly no traction. The Self Service app until the Jamf 10 preview wasn't a great user experience. Configuration profiles are clunky when they offer multiple options and can disable features accidentally.

A must have for asset management for Mac Systems

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: We needed a way to manage laptops for local and remote employees as well as push updates and software such as antivirus and Office. We had between 100-200 Apple laptops to manage and it was hard to do one by one. And the new hire process was slow to setup laptops without this software. After a few weeks of learning how to use JAMF we could order a laptop from Apple through our company e-commerce store and have it shipped to office or a remote employee and it would be setup, joined to AD, software installed, etc. right out of the shrink wrap. Can’t image using anything else now, but does have a steep learning curve.

Pros:

Best way to ensure all Macs are up to date, ready to go with business required software installed. Works straight out of the shrink wrap.

Cons:

Very steep learning curve. Lots of short scripts to install different software. They do have a good CS team to help onboard you and check back in if you need help. But expect to spend the first week or two learning how to get it to do what you want. Don’t expect to learn how to deploy this without designating a lot time on learning it.

The best for Apple device management

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: It is the best out there for Apple MDMs. That said, the field is still pretty bad. Not all of the issues are with Jamf, as Apple has certainly bungled a few things, like Apple School Manager. But if you're committed to the Apple way of life, Jamf is absolutely the only way to go, and has certainly made things easier on me since we switched from a competitor.

Pros:

It does everything you need it to in terms of managing whatever you buy from Apple, with a focus on as much automation for mass deployment as possible. Since they focus on Apple, they have all the latest features available as soon as possible.

Cons:

When things break, they can break badly, and a lot of solutions involve running command line scripts and requesting service restarts from support, so if you aren't willing to dig into these sorts of things, it might be difficult for you when support gives you this type of solution. Also, their marketing can be very deceptive, with their analysis on costs phrased as to make apples-to-oranges comparisons and obfuscate their competition's benefits.

Good device management product and its easy to use

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

With lots of devices in the network, it's easy to troubleshoot the devices. The UI experience is straightforward. It has good templates to create configurations and it's maintainable. The report feature is a bonus and it's easy to use.

Cons:

When there is a network issue in between the update, it gets harder to troubleshoot and it needs manual intervention. Support for username search could have been beneficial

Jamf Pro

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: We use it for MDM and RMM of our MacBooks and Mac minis, enforcing policies and settings, automated enrollment process, IDP with Azure AD and conditional access, hardware and software inventory.

Pros:

Third-party patch management is easy to set and view. Easy to deploy apps as long as they don't need special configuration or parameters. Good options for settings and policies to be applied. Detailed hardware and software inventory, albeit a bit delayed.

Cons:

No GOOD MacOS update options, so it's up to the user to run software update. The options Jamf offers are neither good in terms of compliance and IT management nor convenient for the user. Had to find an alternative to do MacOS updates. There seems to be light on the end of the tunnel but only for devices with MacOS 12.

Jamf Pro Review

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: I haven't found anything truly comparable. I just wish Apple would have done what JAMF does out of the box for Apple products.

Pros:

Jamf is simply one of the best management platforms to manage Apple devices. This include macOS and iOS devices. You can push anything out to these units from software installs to printers. I use mine to perform zero touch installs for my users. They get their MacBook Airs. They are already joined to the domain as they take the shrink wrap off the box. This is possible due to the close relationship Apple and JAMF has. It does take some setup to get there though.

Cons:

It is expensive. They just started to enforce their 50 unit minimum. They charge a boot camp fee to get you setup which is extremely expensive but it is worth it. JAMF is powerful and you want a good foundation in order for it to be effective. You have to be willing to put the work in and learn it for it to be beneficial.
