Lokalise is the perfect fit for our organization

5.0 last month New

Pros:

It's intuitive and easy to use which makes onboarding our external translators and internal team members super efficient. Several integrations and automations are available. LokaliseAI is easy to implement and integrate into our workflows. Customer Support is fast, reliable and knowledgeable.

Cons:

Some of the integrations have limitations preventing us from fully taking advantage of them. Using the APIs to integrate tools should be made easier. I wish Lokalise had a robust localization workflow portal (i.e. ticketing system) which allowed teams to submit translation requests and track them in a single place, for all projects.

A great solution for product and Help Center AI translations

5.0 2 months ago New

Pros:

My team and I appreciate the flexibilty available in Lokalise's platform. The ability to use a unified glossary and style guide amongst our projects, paired with Lokalise AI for translation, has been a powerful combination for us. We save time and have constantly updated translations. We found Lokalise very easy to implement, using the out-of-the-box Zendesk integration. It's ideal to have our content constantly synced from Zendesk to Lokalise, so it's ready to be translated with daily updates.

Cons:

I've had issues with filter logic not working well in my instance. It's a bug that I'm hoping will be resolved, as otherwise the functionality is there!

Alternatives Considered: Ditto and Amazon Translate

Reasons for Switching to Lokalise: We preferred the features tied into AI translations, like the glossary, etc.

Review for Lokalise

3.0 5 years ago

Pros:

--Intergration with Github --API to automate translation process --Customer support, timely response --Screenshots for context

Cons:

--Unsupported file formats --TM is not context based and not per language --TM can't be exported in XLS format --String description is not available with "Allow source key editing" disabled (we do not use "Allow source key editing") --Performance issues with large files --Terminology import/export is not available with XLS format --Some functionality is not user friendly (e.g. too many dependencies, reports are not easy to read) --word count is confusing

Best software to date to start with localization

4.0 2 months ago New

Pros:

It's a very easy to learn/use tool. We currently implemented a Figma-to-Lokalise kind of workflow and once we set up the process right (this took a little bit of time haha), now things are running smoothly.

Cons:

The Figma plugin feels like it's in a very early stages of development. It works great in best case scenarios but there are a lot of unhappy paths that are not considered yet. We'd love to provide a few feature requests to make our life easier :)

Alternatives Considered: Crowdin

Comprehensive Solution for a Translation Workflow

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: We are managing all our strings with this solution We are translating into 3 different languages (e.g. English, German and Romanian). The benefits we have realized lies first of in dissolving one bottleneck of passign all the translated strings through our development team. Now our managers and translators handle all the strings and formulations, and the devs focus on other tasks.

Pros:

The app has really reviewed translation workflows and included integrations and tools for all the roles in the team. We can say from integrating this solution with our current web app, that we were astounded by the simplicity the tool connects to the repository, get's the most current keys the developers added and easily pushes changes back to the repository. From a developers perspective this is a dream to use. The translation tools are also on par with the rest, with multiple views for editing, suggestions from major translation software (e.g. Google Translate) and placeholders support. The design is also nice and friendly and well thought out, allowing for easy understanding without needing to read documentation.

Cons:

At the time of the review we haven't encountered any issues or discomforts with the solution.

Alternatives Considered: Transifex and Google Sheets

Reasons for Switching to Lokalise: NGO Offers, Good Support Team, End-2-End Translation Workflow

Great location platform!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: We were looking for a tool to manage all our translations for our Apps and Lokalise surprised us. In a few hours we have imported our projects and the export to iOS and Android is fast and easy.
Let's move on to the payment plan because it's worth it.

Pros:

- It's very easy to import and export. - Automatic language detection when importing all files. - Grammar checking is very useful. - Perfect for App developers. - Multiple format support (excel, csv...) - Group keys by a specific tag or file.

Cons:

* We miss being able to see all the QA's and warnings without having to create a specific filter for all of them. * We have not yet discovered how to ignore the header (first lines) of a CSV or Excel file.

Awesome software that greatly eases our L10n workflow

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: Awesome. The team is quick to react and have a killer product

Pros:

- The fact that we have can have different keys that are differ based on the platform - We can add screenshots [with automatic OCR!] to add more context to our translations

Cons:

They don't have support for variable-width strings (an iOS/macOS feature) [yet?], this isn't a life changing feature per se, but would be nice

Alternatives Considered: Localizer

Reasons for Switching to Lokalise: We can customize the keys for each platform a given translation uses, it helps spot typos within its web UI. And it actually exports your translations as expected, something Localize doesn't seem to be able to handle.

Great for localising your mobile app for multiple languages or multiple brands

4.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: Easy to use platform with great capabilities to translate large amounts of contents fast and efficient.

Pros:

The Lokalise platform is an easy to use platform, with a fast and easy to use web portal with extensive functionalities. Functionalities like, providing automatically translation suggestions and QA suggestion, speed up the work process and make it a breeze to quickly add a new 'key' to your translations. The extensive CLI tooling als makes it easy to implement the localisation process into your development pipeline.

Cons:

Lokalise is a bit on the pricy side when you want to have integrations with Figma or have the automatic translation service. You then quickly end up in the more pricier tiers.

Great product to speed up many business processes

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Pros:

Single source of truth as far as the copy is concerned, single point of access for all people dealing with the text (designers, translators, developers).

Cons:

Perhaps too much focus on artificial intelligence and integration with figma still somewhat precarious

Best translation management tool out there

5.0 2 months ago New

Pros:

I like the simplicity of use and the different CLI/integrations that make the tool usable not only in the web app but also in CI/CD environments

Cons:

Android/iOS integration is not so perfect, especially iOS ones with strings catalog

Great thing for localisation

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: It's great, and is able to make the localisation process quite simple for everyone involved.

Pros:

The core product works quite well, screenshots are helpful for record keeping, for engineers to easily understand where to apply keys.

Cons:

Sometimes the shortcuts are counter intuitive. The AI beta could be massively improved. Text recognition could be added to extract text from screenshots.

Just What We Needed

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: We have used Lokalise to integrate our translatable codebase with translations, and leverage paid and volunteer translators to help us increase our language coverage. We also had a need for a system that non-technical translators could easily understand and use.

Pros:

The best things about Lokalise are the integration with other tools like Github and Slack, as well as the UI and the access controls. I like how easy it's been to import and export sources and translations to and from our code repositories, and the ease with which we can control who can do what within different languages.

Cons:

I have very little to complain about. The only thing worth mentioning is sometimes a slight delay because of time zone in getting support when we were first learning how to use it, because we're in Arizona and they're in Latvia. But that's a very minor inconvenience!

Alternatives Considered: Locize

Reasons for Choosing Lokalise: We needed the system to be more usuable by non-technical people that were daunted by needing to directly use git and github.

Lokalise suggests me the right translation which helps me to complete jobs faster.

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Easy to navigate, the functions are great. It helps me to complete my works faster.

Pros:

The software suggests the translation from the history, google translation and some other places to me. I can just choose one of the right translation or choose one and correct it quickly.

Cons:

Unfortunately, it is web-based software. I need to connect to the interest to work on it. And my internet connection is ADSL. Therefore, I am preferred offline software.

Great instrument for mobile development

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: We develop mobile apps for iOS and Android. We have several products and each of them has from 6 to 25 localisations. It is unreal to maintain all of these localisations by yourself and Localise solve this problem nicely.

Pros:

Easy to filter, search and edit keys. Automation of the localization process with translation providers. Supporting iOS and Android localization files.

Cons:

Screenshots and description are crucial for the right translation. Drag & drop for a screenshot and description editing would be easier without additional popups on the main project screen. More flexible rights for members by sharing the payment method. Many of team should order translation by oneself but now it could be done only by members with an attached credit card.

Great software for translation services

4.0 4 years ago

Pros:

What I like most about this software are the video tutorials that guide you through each part of the website. The customer service is excellent because they even provide you the opportunity to have a call with them in which they will guide you on how to use the software. I also enjoy the fact that I can work with my colleagues from other states in my country. The nonprofit I work has two locations in two different states and we have to do a lot of translation services, so this software is excellent.

Cons:

I could not use it on my phone. I've tried multiple times to scan the QR code to perform my task on the phone but when it reaches to the final stage a message pops up which says "Shake the phone now to open the Lokaalise Debug Menu, and enable Live Mode by toggling the only switch there". However, when I shake my phone nothing happens.

Simple UI, loads of features. Compatible with all our apps and great customer service.

5.0 7 years ago

Comments: There's not much I dislike about it, though I suppose I'd make some of the buttons a little less washed out looking. I thought there were in a disabled state at first.

Pros:

This is an incredibly flexible translation tool which provides a friendly UI for both translators and developers to interact with. Lokalise has translation memory, good plural handling, translation suggestions from the internet, and great platform support for many formats. We were having some issues getting our files to import and export properly, and I received excellent support and an improvement to their import/export to help meet out workflow. They've got a fun visual design style too, which is a nice change from the other more bare-bones translation tools I've used before.

Highly recommended

5.0 6 years ago

Pros:

The nice UI. It feels fresh and is easy to work in. Fantastic support that answers quickly and helps me with any issue I might run into. Otherwise it does what a TMS is supposed to do. And does it well.

Cons:

Some features I took for granted are locked in our current plan. But you get what you pay for I guess :)

Suitable for startups

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Good product and very nice support team.

Pros:

This product solves all problems with translation. I think the most important features for startups are: - Opportunity to launch experiments and make changes very fast without additional release - Connect with translators and attach screenshots to get the best translation - Sometimes use Google translate for not so important cases

Cons:

So, it's not a big problem, but sometimes translators can be not so quick, as we expected. Mostly for rare languages.

Great translation software for our site

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: It opened up our horizons to translating our site into more languages and more easily. What a relief. I highly recommend this product.

Pros:

We work with volunteers across the globe. They are able to easily learn and use this software to translate what they can and leave the hard pages, TOS etc for us to farm out via Lokalise and a couple of days later they are done. The translation suggestions shown from Google et alia by phrase are super helpful too.

Cons:

Some of the HTML goop doesn't always transition over to the translation smoothly but generally it's fine.

Pros:

Attention to details if we are talking about UI/UX. It is easy to use essential tool that you can just send al ink to your teammate and he will understand what to do immediately. It resolves my business tasks on the fly.

Cons:

I still haven't found anything disappointing to me.

Scaling and ease of use

5.0 6 years ago

Pros:

Its ease of use and rapid feature development.

Cons:

Versioning is a bit confusing at first because it uses a different paradigm than what you are used to with their notions of release vs pre-release (and not tied to a semantic version for instance).

Great choice for language localization

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: We've been able to translate our SaaS application into a number of languages very quickly.

Pros:

Great user experience. Prompt customer service. Very feature rich. Low time to value in that onboarding is very easy and quick.

Cons:

Very few complaints. Their support team is located in Europe so US companies should plan for a time zone difference when it comes to support requests.
