Reviews of Kahoot!
Awesome interactive web based learning platform
Comments: Kahoot allows teachers to easily assess student understanding and progress. The platform provides real-time feedback and analytics on student performance, which can help teachers identify areas of weakness and tailor their instruction accordingly.Kahoot can be used in a variety of settings, including in-person and virtual classrooms. The platform has features specifically designed for online learning, such as the ability to host virtual review sessions and share quizzes and polls through a variety of platforms.Kahoot is an affordable and user-friendly tool that is accessible to a wide range of users.
Pros:
As a student, I have really enjoyed using Kahoot in my classes. It's such a fun and interactive way to review and learn new material. The games make the learning process so much more enjoyable and I find myself paying more attention in class because of it. The platform is also really easy to use and I love being able to see how I stack up against my classmates. One of the things I love about Kahoot is the ease of use. It only takes a few minutes to create a quiz or poll and the platform has a variety of question types to choose from, including multiple-choice, true/false, and open-ended responses. it is really good to use for presentations as well to get a poll or valuable input from the audience. Overall, Kahoot has been a great addition to my school experience and I highly recommend it to other students.Overall, I highly recommend Kahoot for any teacher looking to add some excitement to their lessons and make learning more interactive
Cons:
While I generally enjoy using Kahoot in class, I find that the games can sometimes be a bit repetitive. It would be nice to have more variety in the types of games available. One issue I've had with Kahoot is that the timer for answering questions can be a bit too short, especially for more complex or open-ended questions. It would be helpful to have the option to adjust the timer length. While I appreciate the ability to compete against my classmates, I do wish there was a way to customize the leaderboard display. It can be a bit intimidating to see your name at the bottom of the list, and it would be nice to have the option to see how you're doing relative to your own personal best or to your study group. One feature that I think would be really helpful is the ability to save and reuse quizzes or polls. Currently, if I want to use a quiz again in the future, I have to recreate it from scratch. It would save a lot of time and effort if there was a way to save and reuse quizzes.
Kahoot Explored
Comments: Kahoot has brought listener response to the next level as users are hooked with its interactive display and game mode setting. Users and administrators love it because it gives instant feedback from listeners.
Pros:
Kahoot is a highly interactive way to assess knowledge using a game format. It brings out excitement with its users as the users feel they are playing a game rather than reviewing essential material. It is very easy to use, and allows the users to get immediate responses and feedback from their intended audience. The software allows the user to build a question and offer four possible answers. the user can assign a certain amount of time to each question. Students, or users get to earn points based on their correct answers and the speed at which they answered it.
Cons:
There is not o function to measure open response questions. The software is limited to only multiple choice or true and false. Also, sometimes those interacting with it aim for speed over right answers.
Kahoot in a middle school classroom
Comments: I am a teacher with no budget, except my own $, and little time to experiment in the school year. I have a tech background of 15 years as a developer, so I can figure things out quickly. When I can't figure them out quickly, I move on. There are a lot of good, free tools out there. My major complaint with Kahoot was the students can't see the questions on their screen, and so they often click on the wrong color when answering. I have a range of cognitive abilities in my public school, and having the question and answers on the screen allows students to stay with the work.
Pros:
I liked Kahoot initially because it was a fast-paced way to start class. Students loved the competitive nature of the game and the leaderboard. The music was fun too. It used to be fairly easy to create or find new kahoots to use for math as well.
Cons:
My new students who are mostly remote this year had only used kahoot, so that was their favorite game. I went back in to my account and tried to create some new kahoots. Here is what I found difficult: 1. I was bombarded with offers to upgrade. 2. I couldn't use most kahoots in the library because they had features that weren't available to me. 3. It seems whatever I was initially trying to do, I was blocked or invited to upgrade.
Kahoot - teachers like it, students love it
Comments: I love Kahoot, even a small kid can use it. It’s fun for teachers and students. Students can be more competitive specially when they have a count down
Pros:
It’s very easy to use for kids and grown ups also. As a teacher I can go for quizzes that students can easily complete specially when they use phones, laptops or computers
Cons:
Doesn’t load that quickly, sometimes requires more time to run the log ins for everyone
Best Learning Tool
Comments: I absolutely love Kahoot because it is a highly interactive platform that allows for learning to be fun. It keeps students interested in learning and also allows for the teachers to be able to create reviews in an easy and effective way. Kahoot is easy to use and definitely a great value for the money. Overall, a great experience.
Pros:
Kahoot is a platform with a friendly user interface, which makes it extremely fun to use. I use this program in a lot of my classes, as it is definitely a fan favorite. Students are more engaged when it comes to learning due to how interactive a platform Kahoot is. After inputting questions based on the unit covered in class, Kahoot generates a pin that students are able to enter into the Kahoot website in order to join the game. While the game is in session, they are able to choose a color that corresponds to the answer choices on the board. Students get really excited because everyone wants to be on the leaderboard at the end of the game. Doing review questions in class without Kahoot is a hassle because nobody wants to answer the questions in fear of being wrong. However, with Kahoot, everyone is able to participate and it makes the classroom setting more lively. I especially love how Kahoot provides a graph of the student answers after they are submitted because teachers can see if how many students had trouble understanding a certain concept. This allows the teacher to explain the question further for not only the students who are having difficulty with it but also for the rest of the students in the class. Kahoot also allows students to be at different places, but still, be able to play the game which is extremely helpful during this pandemic because most students are engaged in online learning.
Cons:
While there was little to dislike about this platform, it definitely has room for improvement. For example, if students press a wrong answer by mistake while playing the game, they are not able to go back and change it before the time is up. Additionally, a feature allowing for players to submit text answers rather than just multiple choice would be extremely helpful.
