Reviews of Duo Security
Cisco Duo is more than 2-factor Authentication
Pros:
Duo not only provides 2-factor authentication but also provides security posture checking for a dynamic behaviour of an endpoint.
Cons:
Duo is purely cloud-based and does not have an on-premise setup.
J.L. Duo Security Review
Comments: Duo Security was the second-in-line when it came to authentication and data security for protecting my device's applications but really fell short when it came to the execution of its actual functionality when the time came. So, within the time period of installing and using the software, I soon uninstalled it in search of another software to satisfy my needs with less complications.
Pros:
Duo Security's simplistic design format makes any user, including myself, notice any and every possible feature available and if unsure, can contact their support team who replies in a very short span of time.
Cons:
There were times in the past where I would use Duo Security as a two-factor authentication system to login my Instagram account. However, on those times the code that would refresh every 30 seconds was always deemed incorrect. And so I would have to disable the software's functionality and risk my account security to simply login to Instagram.
A security tool which you can rely for MFA
Comments: We were asked to implement MFA for cisco anyconnect and we found DUO could do this job as cisco did not have their own solution for MFA. Implementation took less than a day and it was super easy to use. License cost is also cheap. It supports Push notification, sms and even phone call. Support is very awesome as they respond quickly.
Pros:
Nice UI Easy to integrate with security products like cisco ASA Very cheap to implement if your organisation is looking for MFA Supports SAML Supports Radius
Cons:
I have not found any cons as such as the implementation was for MFA and it worked like a charm.
Duo Security is a bit of a double-edged sword
Comments: Duo Security is necessary and useful when trying to protect your secure access to portals and data online. However, this company hasn't quite worked out the delays and programming bugs that still come with the app.
Pros:
Duo Security does resolve many issues with sensitive information and secure access, as the approved user is given sole access by having this app on the user's phone.
Cons:
There are numerous delays in alerts and sometimes it appears that programming bugs cause the app to malfunction, even when using the latest version of the app.
The most trusted identity security tools.
Comments: Cisco Duo Security provides a seamless experience for working remotely in a secured environment. It gets integrated with the mobile phone easily to get a new passcode every time I login.
Pros:
Easy integration with mobile phones. Multifactor authentication. Single sign on functionality. Takes no time for authentication.
Cons:
After several years of use, I do not find any weaknesses in the application.
Alternatives Considered:
Outstanding MFA Security
Comments: Our users and administrators have both given positive feedback with using Duo. I would recommend to organizations looking to have reliable and secure logins.
Pros:
Multifactor authentication has been effective at making users have to sign in securely to our networks. Duo admin console is easy for our techs to learn and user setup takes a few minutes to complete. The device and user management for sign-ins allows us to manage the authentication more effectively.
Cons:
We have experienced the admin console inaccessible at times when there have been updates or outages. The timer for accepting pushes doesn't always sync up correctly.
Frequent Duo Security User
Pros:
I like how seamless Duo Security integrates into my authentication process. The mobile app makes 2FA easy with a variety of methods to navigate authentication.
Cons:
I don't have any cons about Duo Security from the end-user perspective. An initial concern was that 2FA would be excessive, but with how integrated mobile devices have become with everyday life, it only takes a few seconds to add an additional layer of security to protect my organization's data.
Trustworthy and smooth authentication experience
Comments: Best so far. Self-service portal makes working easier and enjoyable.
Pros:
I like MFA use in this tool. It is flexible and fast. Customization is given it's place giving the users an adaptive access. After setting up the tool and interfacing, the user has complete control and device visibility. There is scheduled device health check to ensure authentication of our services.
Cons:
No doubts. Secure and reliable. Offers the most outstanding endpoint visibility and control.
simple to use
Comments: Overall, it did what it needed to do. once set up it was a quick way to protect the account.
Pros:
I liked how easy it was to log in with it, as the notification pops up and works instantly. the app was easy to use once connected
Cons:
setting up a new device was challenging, for example if you did not have your phone with you bypassing the authentication with another device was not easy.
Duo Security
Pros:
I like that it is quick to load and easy to use
Cons:
I dislike that it can be hard to set up if you get a new device
Important to have.
Comments: Has been an excellent and smooth experience for me, it is easy to use and it gives me peace knowing that if someone wanted to use my credential i will be notify.
Pros:
Mobile authentication is great, the pop up screen that just require accept once you are login in to the VPN is very efficient and easy to use.
Cons:
When changing mobile device or phone number associated to the DUO it can be a nightmare doing the self service steps for people that are not computer savvy, within the organization has colleagues that do it very fast and some of them that hard to understand and follow the steps.
Best For MFA
Comments: Duo was an easy transition into the MFA world for external access to our internal systems.
Pros:
It can integrate seamlessly with all platforms and apps of our organization. Easy to install, use, track, and recover from lost or damaged phones. It has push notifications and also alternate access via text or call.
Cons:
Sometimes it takes a couple of times to sign in to a network.Sometimes due to poor data access on the end user part, a push notification doesn't come up although data is available, Which leads to a timeout. A little bit difficult in the initial configuration.
Duo Security Ease of Use
Comments: I use Duo daily, it has never failed and i am aleays able to log in and get my work started.
Pros:
When working off site, I need Duo to be quick and to be able to get on my computer without waiting.
Cons:
I havent had any issues. It is amost instant when asking for a push.
Duo Security
Pros:
I like how simple and straightforward this tool is. We have rolled this out for staff to sign in securely to their work devices and adds that little extra layer of security to our organisation.
Cons:
At times there can be delays on receiving either the code or push notifications which can be an easy to then gain access.
Duo Review
Comments: Overall Dou mobile does a great job at storing access codes and having easy access to them.
Pros:
The product is very simple and easy to use. After the one-time setup to any 2fa-enabled website or application, you only copy the access code and you're in. The implementation with Canvas, which Oregon State University requires, is seamless. After inserting the university's login information, a notification is sent to the device of preference. You only have to click a button and you're in. This one-click access is dependent to applications that support it, otherwise a copied code is required.
Cons:
For mobile application: The only concern is the application doe not have the ability to enable lock, such as FaceID or fingerprint. Therefore, other individuals could access those codes if the phone is unlocked.
Used for Authentication
Pros:
It was very easy to use for work authentication.
Cons:
There are no cons with Duo since it was mainly used to log into citrix as an authenticator.
A simple solution that works
Comments: Duo Security performs as it claims and works well. It's simple, and I don't have to think when using it, which is great.
Pros:
I like the convenience factor most. Some two-factor authentication solutions take some time (entering a code, etc.), but I love how Duo has an Apple Watch widget that allows me to make a single click to authenticate. I also appreciate the simplicity of the UI. I also like the QR code pairing that some sites have to set up the Duo config. It's quick and easy.
Cons:
I have no complaints, so it's difficult to write about what I like least. If I were forced to make a suggestion, it would be to make the mobile app more visually appealing.
A decent way to add security
Comments: I think it's fine as I rather verify using the app then using a code as that takes a bit longer.
Pros:
I like that it gives an extra level of security to our accounts for school. The verification process is simple and quick.
Cons:
I think that it fails to recognize that I am the user logging in on the same computers. It's not a big issue though.
Highly recommend for remote authorization usage
Pros:
I love how easy this system is to use either remotely through a computer or a phone. I never had trouble accessing my patient charts when outside of the hospital. It was a very reliable system.
Cons:
I did not have any issues with the duo security system
Convenient tool for access control
Comments: Overall, I am satisfied with this application, mainly due to its simplicity, fairly good reliability and extensive integration possibilities with other tools.
Pros:
An easy-to-configure two-factor authentication tool with a simple and clear interface. It can be integrated into an existing environment regardless of platform or OS. It also has logging and monitoring functions.
Cons:
Sometimes I don't get push messages or I get two at once, which sometimes takes a long time and can be frustrating when you need to access resources quickly.
Duo Security Review
Comments: I use DUO to sign in securely into my work computer. I haven't had any issues and I'm able to add as many computers and devices on there as I want.
Pros:
I like how quick my computer is able to communicate with the app on my smart phone in order to log me into my computer quickly and safely.
Cons:
It took some knowledge from my IT team in order for me to use the app properly. So some training is needed and it would be nice for a have quick help guide.
Does exactly what it does!
Comments: Really, my experience is very positive. When I am disappointed, it is usually because it work well All The Time so I expect to be perfect, but perfect it a high bar to set for anything. I use three different Dual Auth apps and three physical tokens for different applications and Duo it in the top two in terms for favorite in ease to use.
Pros:
The PUSH to mobile functionality is just about as easy to use as you can get. Also, I can use the same app for different authentication of different unrelated systems.
Cons:
The Duo PUSH does not ALWAYS work 100% of the time, but does work 90%. Usually when inside or around electronics, but that is to be expected like with text messages or regular phone calls.
Duo Security Review
Pros:
Duo Security is very user-friendly, and it is used for authentication. It is easy to install and use. We have login either through password or push
Cons:
Sometimes push will not work properly, and the password will not work if we take more time
Duo Security Review
Pros:
Duo Security Is user-friendly and easy to install and integrate for authentication.
Cons:
Sometimes push will not work, and we have need to enter the password again if we do not use this for a long time
Easy security feature for WFH
Pros:
easy to set up and use for authentication and security. easily integrates with Windows and iPhone
Cons:
no issues - using this since 2020 to authenticate and secure remote work sessions
