Flex

Sometimes Flex works great, sometimes it runs very slow and clunky.

Pros:

It is very easy to pick up with no outside knowledge and understand how it works. It makes it very easy to keep track of inventory and keep things organized.

Cons:

Sometimes Flex freezes or performs very slow. Even if it is the only program I have open on my computer, it still clunks through very simple functions. This is universal among my coworkers and I and Flex is always slow for us at the same times.

Very "functional", but not very practical.

Pros:

The greatest strength of Flex is also it's greatest weakness - it is very customizable, and you can set up many aspects in specific ways tailored to your company's workflow. I do appreciate that the software can be set up to store all sorts of data points and pull reports on many of those. We currently do not use the full functionality of Flex because every aspect of business that relies on this software takes more time than necessary.

Cons:

As of November 2017, the user interface is still Flash-based, meaning it is extremely slow to use. The more items added to a document (quote/contract), the slower it gets both on the account side and warehouse side. Technically, Flex is capable of doing a lot, but every aspect of business that operates in Flex (i.e. quoting, inventory management, purchase orders) takes longer than necessary, resulting in inefficiency overall.

Works for some things but is clunky

Pros:

Flex has so much potential yet the basic core functionally of the program is not being focused on.

Cons:

The program is written in pieces and coded by outsourced programmers. So where one thing works well it doesn't translate into the rest of the program and is often overlooked. The ability to do a multi-session show that would incorporate and calculate total equipment needed for shows that changed equipment requirements for each day. This was promised to us over 5 years ago when we purchased the software. Broken promises that they were going to have it. I designed the workflow and even offered to pay Rep to build it and he denied it. Updates are pushed and screw up existing user settings to the point that we have to keep records of where user setting is supposed to be. Figuring out the settings and where everything is difficult. If you don't use the back end of the program daily it's very easy to get lost and screw something up. Stupid things like Move Above or Below vs Move After or Before. Consistencies don't exist. The system is slow. Clicking and dragging items onto a quote takes forever! Inventory takes forever! Lack of ability to "insert" items into the "Suggestions" tab for an item. Late missing list needs more options. Ability to make custom reports to print Ability to customize printing documents, like quotes, Event Folders Lack of ability for different warehouse pricing Flex focuses too much on getting new clients and updating the software instead of focusing on making the software run.

Overall positive, very in depth software that takes getting used to.

Comments: Puts pretty much everything I need on a day to day basis in one place

Pros:

Ability to track inventory, sales, customers, and costs. Support has also been great and quick to respond with solutions or to look into problems. The user support forum is also filled with people willing to help.

Cons:

Runs on flash and is hosted in the cloud so the software runs pretty slowly. They are currently working towards HMTL5 but it's still slow. There are other specific functionality flaws that I hope will be addressed with the new release but they are very specific and only relevant to someone currently working with the software day to day.

Inventory Software Flex Rental Solutions, better than some others

Comments: I've never had to deal with customer service, so that means serious issues have never come up in my over two years working with this software. Flex is a very usable inventory solution, just could use some fine tuning with more input from end users.

Pros:

-Easy to learn -Cloud based -Easy to edit quantities in Pull sheets -The ability to enter data in numerous data fields -The ability to change warehouse locations easily

Cons:

-Flash based design occasionally freezes up -Search function could use fine tuning -Some functions of Flex not used -Doesn't allow scanning an item directly into next order with prompts -Hard to fix input mistakes without roundabout solutions

Makes inventory tracking easy

Pros:

Very customizable, and user friendly. You can change almost everything from layouts, icons, scanning sounds.

Cons:

This being flashed based limits it's usability somewhat for mobile use. (I know that is changing in V5)

Very useful, but a learning curve

Pros:

Works great and user interface is pretty good. It can be intimidating to figure out all the menus and options

Cons:

the user manual is ok. Doesnt really help out other than give the basics. I wish there was a more general work flow provided. There is a million different ways to do one thing and it isnt the easiest to figure that out

easy to use, was very intuitive.. i like the way it operates and how your able just to click and go.

Cons:

software needs work still. in some views the categories and gear available were not correct. it made it hard to trust the numbers

It's very user friendly

Pros:

I used Rentalworks for years, and I have to say I like Flex better. Everything is very easy to get to and edit.

Cons:

Freezes and takes forever to load sometimes. Would love an updated mobile app as well, as that also shuts down spontaneously sometimes.

Very high value solution for rental and staging companies

Pros:

Very customizable and user friendly. New employees are able to be working in the program within the first days of training.

Cons:

CRM is not as full featured as a full CRM system. WE have not explored the financial intergrations possible in the system.

Can't beat these features at this price point!

Comments: I've used Flex with 2 different companies and have managed the system for both of those companies. The features and functionality can't be beat for the price. It's extremely easy to start using the basic functions and also offers more extensive functionality for the companies that choose to implement them. At it's core, Flex is a rental inventory management software, but it's workflow includes financial functionality too keeping your from bouncing between multiple softwares. Quotes, Invoices, PO's, Pull Sheets, Manifests, Cross-rental PO's, Crew Lists, etc. are all linked together per job handing off information for less time doing data entry. Scanning is simple and extremely easy to begin utilizing as a company. Some of the other functions Flex offers includes maintenance logs, ROI reporting, contact management, QuickBooks integration, file management, sales forecasting, decommissioning, containers (items inside of items), barcode generation, and more.

Pros:

-Easy to start using. -It's in the cloud giving you access to all your information from anywhere. -Scanning is easy. -Manages both the financial and the logistical processes of a job. -The price is right compared to a lot of the competition.

Cons:

-Currently Flash based, but HTML5 is coming soon as per the time of this post.

Easy, only the real essentials.

Comments: Customer service has been amazing. All in all, I would recommend this 100 times over.

Pros:

It is incredibly intuitive. The seem to really understand the workflow in a dental practice. I also love that every time that I even think of some feature that I could request, a free update magically appears for that feature. I do believe that they really pay attention to their customers suggestions and needs.

Cons:

I would like to eventually see the flex communicator (different from the regular flex app) work a little more integrated with Open Dental

Overall the system does what it is expected to do

Comments: This software has helped us become more efficient in our day to day operations. We have also significantly increased our ability to track our equipment.

Pros:

The best part of the software is the overall show management functionality to it. I like that the software is geared to Rental Stagers and has the ability to integrate gear, labor, and logistics.

Cons:

The software runs very slow with required refreshes for everything you do which takes a lot of time over the course of a day. I also do not like how the availability of gear messes up periodically and gear will go crazy. I would also like automatic notifications that allowed for reminders to be sent at milestones or as things happen. For instance, I would like to notification to go to our sales team if a quote is not confirmed 7 days away or a notification go out to our warehouse team for schedule pickups and returns upcoming.

We have worked with numerous software and nothing compares to this system. Flex has done a Great Job

Pros:

We like the freedom of having a web base system that we can take where ever we go. That all departments are integrated to work in a perfect harmony. It keeps track on where everything is and gives us the tools to facilitate quotes to our clients in a fast timely matter. This system has help us spend less time building forms and waisting time in implementing procedures when all you have to do in input all the assets and thats it. It keeps the entire team integrated and aware of all the moving parts to make a successful event.

Cons:

We would like to see a better mobile version of the system. With now a days we try to travel light sometimes we are on the run but the need information on the hand to execute a last minute request and let all the department know what they need to do to make it happen. Other than that we are set with Flex for life!

overall it is a good program

Comments: We have only been using this software for about 3 years so we are still learning the ins and outs and all the things that this system can do.

Pros:

Flex has many good features, live inventory, easy to maneuver. Customer support has always been great. The webcasts are extremely helpful. Love the work tree to keep everything in order.

Cons:

The updating as you go. Sometimes things take a long time to load, and when you change a line in a large quote it takes awhile to load the info. Sometimes it feels like it would be easier to make the quote and then have it save. Also closing POs so that the items come out of the how many ordered column only to have the purchase orders disappear. In the work tree I wish the item you were working on would be highlighted or something to show which one you were working on.

Pros:

The generated reports are pretty good. I like when I print a quote or pull sheet it comes out very professional.

Cons:

Not usable on mobile. Hard to edit crew lists. Not holding the settings I put in there. Things on my calendar, disappear and reappear.

Love This Software

Pros:

It has all the features I needed for patient communication we needed in an easy interface.

Cons:

It lacks a few integrations of other services.

Overall the product has allowed our company to get better organized.

Pros:

Ability to track most changes that happen. Pretty straightforward workflow. Integrates well with quick books.

Cons:

Can be sluggish and not intuitive for new users. Lacking simple features such as statements for clients, send emails with specific reports, send to client feature is not everywhere and it's abilities are limited. Doesn't play well in all browsers. We are Apple based and now have to use Firefox to get it to function fully. Doesn't allow for larger file uploads that are integral to events such as floor plans, VWX / DWG files, event photos etc, the file upload is smaller than a floppy disk could hold... Looking forward to flex 5 where it sounds like some of these issues may be addressed.

My experience with Flex is not very satisfying so far.

Pros:

Its potential features. If everything worked smoothly and it had the ability to freely import/export and integrate with external services based on an HTML5 infrastructure, it would be great.

Cons:

Flash based, slow, no integrations, old-fashioned, no ability to freely import/export... I think this software should aim to be a proper modern HTML5 based

Flex has been very reliable for us. The abilities seem endless.

Comments: After using this for more than 2 years, It has become a daily necessity and aids in the flow of our business.

Pros:

Functionality and reliability. Flex takes our company from quote stage all of the way back to return stages including accurate "Presumed Missing" reports. With any big business, items can get overlooked.

Cons:

It sometimes is VERY slow to load between actions. I would like this to be available more in network in times that internet goes down. I have become very reliant on the functionality.

Pros:

Scalability, inventory management with all its benefits. Suggestions when adding products. It helps our Project managers that don't have all the technician knowledge.

Cons:

The GUI is abit plotty. Designs on reports. We cannot use the default invoice or qoute templates due to lack of design. Would be great to be able to lock a final price in the qoute, even if someone elses start Messing around in the system. Still a few bugs.

Verfy unique and flexible.

Comments: the ability to organize our entire staff and inventory as we need.

Pros:

I like that we can have everything in one organized system that we can use at our own pace and as we our needs increase we can rely on the versatility of the system to help us grow and transform as we need.

Cons:

The learning curve is a bit steep and we are limited by flash to have it run only through a computer web browser and not a mobile phone or tablet.

Mostly positive, with periods of frustration with the system/quote re-setting.

Comments: Saves time in prepping quotes for clients.

Pros:

Easy to customize quote to meet different departments needs. Fairly intuitive systems for creating new project elements. Child elements for the most part inherit proper characteristics from the parent file reducing the work load. Greater communication between Project Managers, Calling Steward and Warehouse staff allows for fewer errors in prepping a job.

Cons:

Use of flash player can bog down the process when multiple people are using the system in our office - up to 15 computers/users at any given time. Re-setting and refreshing of the system when dragging inventory items in to the quote will hopefully be resolved when the Beta testing for Flex 5 is complete.

Powerful software with lots of potential

Pros:

Favorite feature is the ease of building quotes and having sub categories to build an event out. It makes it easier to not forget important items

Cons:

Making pull sheets and making changes to the quote after its confirmed becomes a challenge at times when it dumps everything back into the pull sheet a second time

frustrating at times

Pros:

Flex is able to keep track of our gear and accurately create a quote then turn that quote in to a pull sheet quickly.

Cons:

Since its cloud based it can very slow at times. You can not access it from any operating system as you have to have a Flash enabled Browser.
