I love Expensify, I miss it, but CORE has more features

5.0 last year

Pros:

User friendliness is uncomparable. Straigforward options and clear visuals.

Cons:

The lack of billing, invoicing and cost tracking features. This is why we switched to CORE. I hate CORE. I love Expensify. I miss it

Good Tool. Gone Woke

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: Loved this product until it went woke. I wish they would just process receipts rather than push agendas.

Pros:

We loved this tool. It worked so well for our nonprofit. It integrated well with credit cards and payments.

Cons:

Two things completely turned me off of Expensify. THey started integrating DEI into their marketing. I remember coming to the site and they had splashed all over the screen BLM material. I dont need their progressive ideals of BLM or pride shoved at me. Just process receipts. The second thing that turned me off was that I was no longer able to connect with my primary banks.

Avoid at all costs!

1.0 last year

Comments: Overall experience has been *terrible*. I will never ever use this service again nor recommend it to anyone.

Pros:

I am the founder/CEO of my company, and adopted expensify because it was simple and easy-to-use, and largely automated expenses/reimbursement and financial reporting of same.

Cons:

Unfortunately, something bad has happened to this company since those early days.First, they started putting up these really confusingly-labeled buttons which, if clicked, would automatically opt you in to using their new credit card product. And after I accidentally clicked one of those buttons, there was *no way* to undo it and every employee at my company was emailed a credit card! It was a huge fiasco. We decided to stop using Expensify due to these issues, as well as poor support, at the end of 2022. However, since our cancellation request arrived a few days *after* Jan 1 2023, they refused to cancel our account and continued to charge us over $1400 despite us not using the service at all. Eventually I had to contest the charges and ask our credit card issuer to deny future charges from expensify.

Easy Expense Management System

5.0 10 months ago

Pros:

As an accountant I really appreciate its expense mapping and the way it integrates with NetSuite. I like the workflow, the reports, and the automations that are included to flag any errors!

Cons:

I don't have any complaints, I do feel that the use and cost ratio is not supportive for smaller companies but for high volume expenses this is an absolute MUST HAVE.

Great mobile solution for all users

5.0 7 months ago

Pros:

Mobile app and receipt tracking capabilities

Cons:

Cost and reporting features. I wish there were more options to pull reports and show the detail of the receipts attached. Better linking with emailed receipts.

Terrible Implemention Experience

2.0 8 months ago

Comments: Terrible implementation experience: Expensify is not taking ownership of an incomplete implementation. Iam writing this poor review out of exasperation with their poor customer support.

Pros:

In evaluating this solution, we liked the demonstrated functionality, relatively low cost, and credit card offering.

Cons:

The implementation experience has been terrible. The approach is not well organized. Early on we had problems "whitelisting" the Expensify ACH codes which we quickly rectified on our end, but it took Expensify nearly 10 days to restore related services. Then for some reason the integration with Xero stopped working in late March and one month later is has not been resolved. The only human we can speak with is our implementation coordinator which is frustrating because this is clearly a technical issue. I have asked on multiple occasions to speak with someone who can solve this issue only to be told that there is no one else I can speak with. Unacceptable.

Expensify for Small Businesses

4.0 6 months ago

Pros:

Expensify was easy to customize (both fields, and groups for employees), so we were able to use it for our exact needs and set up different parameters for different groups of employees. The mobile features are also very useful.

Cons:

It would be helpful to be able to customize some of the automized report submissions, and customize various reminders to send out to employees.

A game changer when we implemented it

Pros:

- App functionality - scanning and recognition - quite smart in remembering your recurring expenses and vat attributions, etc - time gained on all tasks: me on making the reports and finance to check and make my reimbursement

Cons:

Need different profiles to use with separate setups for different countries (when frequently traveling different countries)

Simplifies a painful process

5.0 11 months ago

Pros:

Once you've got the hang of using it, Expensify will make managing expenses simple. I've done the same thing with paper, spreadsheets and Concur and the experiences were terrible and mistake ridden. Just put everything through expensify and forget about it. If you've missed something or have an action to complete expensify will get in touch to prompt you with clear instructions.

Cons:

There is a bit of learning curve. I find the UI quite sparse and until you get the hang of what is where it's not always clear how to complete tasks with it. I have found that once you have learned what you're doing though, you don't foget because it's not actually that complicated.

Simple, Easy, Convenient

5.0 last year

Comments: Overall, our experience with Expensify has been very positive. It has streamlined the way we track expenses and reiumbursements and has helped clean up a lot of the discrepancies we dealt with previously.

Pros:

What we like the most is how simple Expensify makes it to track expenses, keep receipt information, and submit expense reports. The App is very user friendly and intuitive and does most of the work for you.

Cons:

The only critique I have of expensify is that the GPS feature for tracking mileage does not always perform properly. We have been reluctant to use it after experiencing several glitches.

Expensify makes things easy

5.0 last year

Comments: Great product! It really makes it nearly impossible to lose receipts or not claim business expenses.

Pros:

Expensify makes tracking receipts and sending them to the business office flawless. As long as you take a picture, the rest is easy.

Cons:

There’s nothing I don’t like about Expensify. It’s easy. The only suggestion is something it thinks two charges are duplicates when they’re not but Expensify lets you resolve it easily.

Decent expense tracking and receipting solution

4.0 last year

Comments: Overall, it's been a good experience, coming from a largely monotonous and paper pushing way of uploading and creating receipts. However, we do expect further customization and improvement of the platform given the investment made into it

Pros:

Expensify has an easy to use interface, which is helpful for non-tech savvy people like myself. It has cross platform support including a mobile application. It also allows to quickly generate receipts, greatly simplifying the process which would otherwise have taken us days

Cons:

The user experience could've been better. Although cost is not something I have to worry about immediately, it could be a bottleneck for some users as it limits the usage per cost tier. Data privacy and loss are also a consideration, given we're dealing with critical financial data

It's alright

5.0 last year

Comments: It is difficult to navigate the site since there are so many ways to do the same thing. It has great features but you don't always know they are there.

Pros:

I think the "default rate" for gas reimbursement is one of the best features they offer... that we utilize. It is great to have a rate set to the market of the person in the field because we have employees across the country, gas prices vary, and we want to fairly reimburse people. It is much easier than having to set a rate ourselves, monitor it, and change it as the market does.

Cons:

It's not the most user friendly site to navigate. It is difficult to figure out how to submit an expense without some playing around. Since there are several ways to submit an expense, it is hard to tell if you are done and set to be reimbursed.

A swift and easy way to ensure work expenses are refunded in an organised, accessible manner

5.0 last year

Pros:

I just love that I can scan a receipt or upload a photo and have my expenses signed off before a work trip is even complete.

Cons:

Sometimes I get a little confused with the codes but that's more organisational issues than a reflection on the software itself.

Nonexistent Customer Service + Spam

1.0 2 years ago

Comments: I will never recommend a company that plays politics with our data.

Pros:

I used it and recommended it for years.

Cons:

Without our approval or permission, the [sensitive content hidden] of Expensify emailed political ramblings to our entire user base. This is not a liberal or conservative issue with me - it is one of trust that our data will be kept secure. We then cancelled our account and our users continue to receive solicitations from Expensify and despite request they refuse to stop.

Expensify is great

5.0 last year

Comments: Really positive experience and will definitely be using the product for the foreseeable future.

Pros:

I liked how easy this system was to deploy. Our team was using it fairly flawlessly within about a week of adoption and that was a big win for us.

Cons:

Expensify works in all the ways that I want it to. I wish the system would send email reminders for people to review their spending because that would help us stay on top of it

Not sure why my company stopped using it

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I used Expesify to upload my monthly receipts for reimbursements and to track those reimbursements. I intentionally used past tense becuase my company decided to change to a different - worse software - terrible move on their part.

Pros:

I think one of the hallmarks of great software is having a great UX/UI, and Expensify definitely has that. and for that reason, I love the ease of use. It makes something as mundane as expense reporting not feel like a chore that takes up so much of your time.

Cons:

There's actually not anything that I don't like about Expensify. I think it's one of the better expense reimbursement softwares on the market (there are others I'm sure).
