Cons:

Just getting use to the different ways to scan and retrieve. Sometimes it is hard to find exactly what you are looking for, but I think we will master all phases soon.

Docstar is a great document management system with many features and vast flexibility

Pros:

Workflow and rules capabilities are wonderful. filing and retrieval of documents is very fast, overall product is very flexible.

Cons:

Sometimes it's more complicated than it needs to be to build a workflow. The need to download some files in order to view them is bothersome.

Easy to use and functional

DocStar ECM: You can pay for support but when you need it prepare to shell out more $$$

Pros:

Nice document management, Can be granular with workflows but there is no documentation on workflow creation. This is probably a push to sell professional services

Cons:

You can pay for a support contract, but if you ever need support prepare to get told you need to pay for professional services. Needed to upgrade our Docstar instance to a new version got directed to professional services. Need assistance with creating a workflow, Professional services will help you for the right price. Really confused on why we pay for support when every support request gets the reply "You would need professional services for that". Requested access to download new versions of Docstar from their website... This was 4 months ago and they still have not come through with the request. Probably a way to get people to pay for professional services.

Pros:

DocStar ECM is reliable for document storage/retrieval on a daily basis. Our clients rely on us to protect the highly-sensitive information that they share with us and we have confidence that we do that via this product.

Cons:

I feel as if the support factor could be improved on. At times, it seems that the response time from a rep/technician could be improved.

ECM Epicor AP Automation

Comments: EPS was awful at first. Sales pitch did not materialize in implementation, bug remains. Lack of turn key solutions that was paid for.

Pros:

Able to connect with Kinetic ERP out of the box with EPS service

Cons:

Lack or ready report, lack of ready workflow, lack of full Kinetic feature in ECM that works, bugs all around related to Kinetic

Not so efficient for us, maybe more useful for others

Comments: The thing that has made DocStar helpful at all has been the fact that our accounting team created detailed tutorials for staff use. The program crashes often and seems to randomly lose documents all the time, and its user interface isn't the friendliest.

Pros:

DocStar is good for those who don't work with expense reports often as it is very baseline as far as advancements go.

Cons:

DocStar doesn't offer a whole lot in terms of user-friendliness and accommodation. It feels clunky to use and it's very easy to get lost/lose your entire work if you're not careful.

Comments: it fast and easy to access old client files

Pros:

Fast Retrieval of documents and easy set up and configuration. on need to install on local user's computer.

Cons:

importing and merging of existing is a challenge but can be done if you create a whole new document.

It Works - Could Be Better

Comments: Though the setup of the product can be rather complicated, with enough support involvement it is a workable product once everything is set up and you know where to go.

Pros:

Document capture/storage and sharing functionality works well enough. Interface is workable. Nice to be able to have a centralized location for multiple offices.

Cons:

The interface can be a bit overwhelming. It is tough to know exactly what fields to search and requires some extensive training to use properly. Definitely not a "pick up and go" type of product.

Need Viewer to work with Epicor Kinetic windows using passwordless single sign-on

Comments: We are automatically attaching our Part drawings along with purchase orders to outgoing emails to suppliers.
We are auto attaching documents (Commercial invoices, etc.) from QuickShip to the Customer Shipment Entry window in Epicor.

Pros:

Love that we can have Epicor place documents into ECM and also pull documents from ECM to be sent on emails with Advanced Printing. Also that we can place records into ECM and they will auto attach to Epicor.

Cons:

**** WE REALLY NEED THE VIEWER TO WORK FOR EPICOR KINETIC WINDOWS USING PASSWORDLESS SINGLE SIGN-ON. **** It worked in Classic but does not work in Kinetic windows. *Drag and Dropping documents into windows no longer works in Kinetic *The user interface is really not intuitive.

Comments: not very happy with the resolutions of any issues, I have few cases open for 8 months that never got resolved

Pros:

the online storage on documents, saves time to check older invoices

Cons:

Development of any additional module, it takes longer time9i would say if you are looking for anything additional, then not hope for at-least 6 months or so.

Solid Document Management System

Comments: We're using this to automate our material certifications process by attaching documents to lots within Epicor Kinetic so that we can then send them with out with Finished Goods.

Pros:

Easy to upload files. The integration with our ERP (Epicor Kinetic) allows us to attach documents to records within in the system and then pull back those records later.

Cons:

The integration is Static. Once you run the workflow, the links are no longer live. Also, the workflow feature is nice. But it would be better if you could customize the software to have workflows run on certain actions. There is nothing preventing a user from circumventing a workflow.

An EDM system with great value, web enabled with heavy workflow focus

Comments: Data entry automation for AP and AR, matching, routing of Invoices and sales orders and ease of finding documents. Version control comes standard and integrates very nicely with MS Office

Pros:

Base system comes with lots of standard features such as records management document workflow, zone ocr, content searching, approval routing and audit trail. The product is browser based so can support Apple/ios environments and be easily placed on premise or in the cloud. Support for multiple companies, TWAIn or ISIS scanning. Batch importing thru email, hot folder, xml or csv comes free. Full MS Office integration and virtual print driver come free. Lots of great options at an affordable price point

Cons:

Looking forward to new rebranding in the 7.16 version , not a fan of the old logo and color pallet

Great software for document retention

Comments: I have had a good experience using this system.

Pros:

The product is easy to use for saving and retrieving documents

Cons:

I was not employed here when it was originally implemented. I like the ability to easily access past reports and documents. Need to have good training for the users so that things are saved in a consistent manner.

Docstar helps run our compnay

Comments: We use to manage our AP processing, HR Documents, proposal review process and as an electronic archive for all of our internal documents as well as all customer related transnational documents.

Pros:

The Docstar software makes it easy to get my hands on any historical document related to any of our customers very quickly. And, we use the workflow feature to initiate quote and proposal reviews as well as sending the proposals electronically to customers for their e-signature and receiving them back into the system automatically after signature.

Cons:

We have no issues with the software and everyone inside our firm uses it on a daily basis.

Comments: We used an older Docstar version before updating our system. We really liked the initial set up went simple and upgraded according to plan.

Pros:

Ease of use, scanning and retrieving, not to mention scanner is very fast a plus.

Cons:

Prefer support and updates would have been rolled into one price not year to year for support.

Pros:

Having all documents at your fingertips is the most desirable feature.

Cons:

Due to software updates problems have occurred with movement of annotations. The only way to fix the problem has been to delete all previously entered information and re-enter it. Very frustrating. Cost of having more than one person with the ability to make changes is ridiculous

Every time an update is done, something is changed on our end and we have to fix it.

Comments: Our company has been using Docstar for filing of documents for a few years now, we love it, no more having multiple filing cabinets throughout, now we scan the documents, file them and can retrieve them at any time. Love this product......

Pros:

Ease of use, ability to access our database for filing, multifunctional

Cons:

haven't found anything we don't like about this software
