Pros:

Was using this with our tech support and content development teams. Does a nice job and allows for very specific tracking and time management.

Cons:

One annoying feature is that you can't pause sessions; you have to stop it, and create a new one. You end up with a couple of 5 second sessions.

Best Free Time Tracking Software in the Industry

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: It's a good time-tracking app for any kind of professional remote work.

Pros:

Tracking time task-wise, adding manual time if needed, and detailed PDF reports these are the best things in Toggl.

Cons:

Managing multiple projects can be difficult or may require a premium plan.

Robust time tracking tool useful for keeping on top of billing

4.0 last month New

Comments: I use this daily to record my work as I put time into various projects. The data entry systems are easy to use, and quick to process. The comprehensive reporting tools allow me to analyse the data as much as I need to. That it can be shared between colleagues working on the same project means that collecting data for billing is pretty straight forward.

Pros:

Being able to quickly record time entries, and categorise them into projects and tasks if the key benefit of using Toggl Track. It gives you enough flexibility and control to make tweaking these entries easy

Cons:

From time to time the site is not super responsive, and tasks you've entered don't appear as you expect. Thankfully this is in frequent, so doesn't outweigh the positives of this tool.

I am so glad I switched to Toggl and my clients are too!

Comments: Time tracking has been pretty seamless since switching to Toggl. I love getting alerts that I left a timer running because I am notorious for forgetting to turn them off.

Pros:

I love the UI and ease of use with Toggl. It works really well for me as a Virtual Assistant. I time track all day.

Cons:

I would like to use more of the billing features but it is a paid benefit. I hope to try it out soon.

A great timer and tracker for an editor working on multiple projects

5.0 last month New

Comments: Toggl Track feels like I've come home. It integrated smoothly into my working day and solved a small problem that saves me a lot of big headaches when I come to invoice and quote for freelance work. I trust Toggl to take care of my time.

Pros:

I love Toggl because it is so easy to use and so forgiving. It ticks away on my desktop or on my phone and I never worry about whether or not it is working properly -- it always is. It even reminds me in an unobtrusive way, with no irritating beeps or jingles -- if I've forgotten to start the tracker, or if I've been idle for a while. I love the fact that I can tweak my time entries if that is needed (sometimes I've been idling, or I've switched projects without amending the timer). When the time comes to send out invoices, I can use Toggl to quickly and easily create reports with all the hours I have worked on each project.

Cons:

Toggl occasionally gets big updates that happen quite suddenly. I think I'd like an option to hold back on them, as there are some busy days when I don't want to deal right away with an update on a piece of mission-critical software.

Toggl Track Improves Productivity and Reduces Overwhelm!

5.0 last month New

Comments: Toggl Track helped me to get organized and stay focused. The overall experience—work is getting done—distractions, stress, and overwhelm are gone!

Pros:

Toggl Track's browser extension is so easy to use I don't have any excuses. It helps me manage my time by providing clarity and helping me to prioritize tasks and project activities. I love the Pomodoro feature, it keeps me focused and reminds me to take much-needed breaks. This feature has improved my mindset, productivity, and health. That's a BIG deal for me since distraction was a major problem. Also, the Google Calendar integration has become indispensable, I use it daily.

Cons:

I don't have any major negatives—there are some features that I'm just not using, but that really doesn't affect me much. Integrating Trello with Toggl Track was not as easy as Google Calendar, but that was on the Trello side, not Toggl.

Great tool for time tracking

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: I use this tool for time tracking allowing me to see in a very visual way how I spend my time. It is such a nice tool for entreprenurs and working from home people.

Pros:

I live that I can start tracking from just a few clicks, easy to use and colors help me see how I am spending my time. Also I like the graphics and reports which help me understand visualy my time and work.

Cons:

I don't like that when I stop tracking a specific activity for a week then it does not appear in the dropdown of suggested activities to track. That makes me waste time going back to the week I worked on that and start tracking the same activity from there or create new name for same activities ending in error tracking.

Toggl Track - Amazing & Free!

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: Excellent free time tracking web and app based piece of software. It’s really hard to beat. The best features are the ability to time track by project and this is as flexible as you need it to be. The chrome extension and browser access are great and means no need to reach for the phone or iPad when not convenient to do so.

Pros:

The basic free service meets all of my needs which includes the important task of time tracking for my work as a lawyer. This helps to keep track of the time I am spending on cases and other tasks. It further provides me with quick reference information for completing attendance notes for time recording.

Cons:

Sometimes when using the Google Chrome extension time tracking stops without warning.

Awesome for solopreneurs

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I have used it on and off for years (I'm not all that good at tracking time consistently), and now that I have figured out the integration with Asana, I am smitten.

Pros:

what I most love about the software is how it integreates with Asana. You link the two in Chrome and then you will only need to click a link icon next to a task to start timing. That way, all your work on one task will be tracked together. I have all that I need in the free account, and would certainly keep using it if I need to upgrade when, down the road, my team would grow.

Cons:

Nothing that I can think of. I am really happy.

Simply the best time tracking solution freely available for self-employed and freelance

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Toggl is simply wonderful, very close to perfect to me.

Pros:

I was tired of wasting a fortune with paid services just to track the time spent on an handful of tasks when working for my clients. I tried a few solutions out there, but all were paid, loaded with features that I didn't even need, and were a bit of a mess to navigate through just to manage my hours of issue a simple time report. I'm so glad I found Toggl : the basic free tier offers everything I need, has a sleek interface and is a bliss to use on a daily basis. Just select the project, type what you're doing and hit the "start" button to start tracking. Every previous task has a "start" button, it's as easy as one click to resume work on an existing task ! Editing time entries is as intuitive as editing text, and generating full-fledge, good looking detailed reports by client/project/task type for any time period is as easy as checking a few boxes and selecting the dates. The free version has everything you need for perfect time tracking for a single person. Simply perfect.

Cons:

None, really, apart from a few very minor annoyances I found with the browser UI : - Some quirks when editing time entries, but you get used to the way the time editing UI works with experience. - In some specific states, clicking the "start" button has no effect, so you end up not having tracked your time after doing a task. It still happens to me from time to time. This can be annoying, so I have to keep a vigilent eye the status icon (browser tab icon) when I'm working on something.

Efficient and convenient work schedule tracking & management

4.0 last year

Comments: I would recommend it for any beginner to medium level startup, freelancers or micro-businesses looking to improve work productivity. With generous free version feature one can easily learn and apply all the features required in daily work routine. As requirements grows then shift to paid version to get maximum features at reasonable price, which is worth for growing business.

Pros:

Most importantly it helped increase our productivity, decreased business cost and manage workflow efficiently. Best feature is project time tracking. Setting-up and managing employees timesheets is a feature we use on daily basis. One of the useful features we love is to adding tags to time entries for to classify projects. Can be used offline (when internet disconnects) to gather information and sync data when we get online automatically and then Reports generated are well presented and provide quite insightful view for our daily work activities. Easy to log time for tasks & sub tasks assigned to a all members of a team working on a project on different devices. Available as chrome extension and mobile app which we look forward to use for up coming projects. Integration with other collaboration tools like Asana and Trello saves much hassle.

Cons:

Some less frequently used features and tools are difficult to find when needed. Minor bugs are encountered when switching workspaces. There are also some tool limitation for planning and management. We hope it will be solved in future updates.

Best Time Tracker, hands down!

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: My time was slipping away and I didn't know where it was all going. Waiting for files to render means 4-10 minutes of time twiddling my thumbs; then picking up on some other task like replying to emails that I would like to do for the ten minutes. That quickly turns into 40 minutes and then the momentum is gone! I don't know how long Ive been working on what and then all of a sudden its 5pm and its all over! Toggl makes the day seem worth it. When you can accurately track your time you can see where you are slipping up; going over; losing money and it helps get over the pitfalls of a busy and variety filled work day. If you work with multiple clients, have many different types of tasks, or you want to know how much to bill a client (a function I didnt use it for as I work for myself) Toggl is the job. I can think of so many more uses for it that don't apply to me or my business but its robust and really well integrated with loads of other apps.

Pros:

Toggl is so easy to use! There is an auto function that gathers info on what you are doing on your computer and you can then review the items in 15 minute chunks; by app, by webpage or by document. Its such an easy way to automatically track your time so you aren't fussing with buttons etc. Really easy and beautiful interface too. The app integrations are great and work with apps like Asana and Trello really well.

Cons:

Some small bugs when switching from apps too quickly and the mobile app doesn't have the same amount of functionality as the desktop version (which is to be expected of course) Other than that its pretty solid.

Couldn't survive in business without Toggl

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I've been using the free version for about 3 years I think. It's critical to my business. It doesn't have so many features that it's frustrating - it's just nice and simple. The paid version has WAY more features and tools that would be useful for a business of more than 1 person, or for someone who's a better business person than I am.

Pros:

It's very easy to use, and the FREE version is all I need. I have a little app that runs on my computer that even reminds me to track my time if I'm not timing. I get really wrapped up in what I do, so it's easy for me to spend way longer than I anticipated on things. Being a solo entrepreneur, it was critical early on when I was trying to figure out how long things actually took me to do. I don't think I'd have been able to develop a clear enough pricing strategy for projects because I literally had no idea how long it took me.

Cons:

The Windows app does undergo changes every now and then, so it gets a little glitchy. Right now, I can't hide the timer away like I used to be able to. I'm sure that'll be fixed by next updated but in the meantime it's only a minor annoyance for the benefit of the program. Which again, is FREE.

Tracking and better time management

4.0 last year

Comments: Toggl Track has been our main tool to increase work productivity, it has allowed us to exhaustively evaluate how we are taking advantage of time and in this way make the pertinent changes so that each member of the work team improves their work performance and take advantage of each minimum moment to streamline your tasks, in this way in a global way we allow ourselves to grow and achieve projects in a much more agile and efficient way. It allowed us to carry out a more detailed study on billable hours to manage a much more precise payroll payment and not leave anything out. Without a doubt, it gave us a complete look at the monitoring of activities and the time we are investing in it to give it the importance it requires and start dedicating much more attention to things that we are leaving out or automating the workflow much more and increasing our possibilities of success.

Pros:

Unique platform that fulfills important basic functions, participates in the monitoring of time and work performance of our work team, it is an integral contribution that helps us in the supervision of billable hours, how time is being used, and if they can be improved in certain aspects to make it even more useful. It allows us to structure the fulfillment and management of tasks to evaluate the most efficient time needed to carry out different projects, to determine the most optimal activity times. It can offer a very extensive database where it is possible to view the status of the work productivity of each team member, all in real time, it is also quite useful for assigning access control and distribution of activities. Likewise, it participates in the invoicing and payment of payroll, it helps us through various tools, undoubtedly easy to use, the development of payments and manage through the database the payment of payroll according to the number of billable hours.

Cons:

I do not find predominant disadvantages about the use of the platform, our use is recent and since we have been using and evaluating each of the tools together with its interface we discovered that it is quite comfortable, offers a good user experience and also the tools represent the utility we really need.

Great for freelancers or anyone who needs to track time

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: My overall experience with Toggl Track is very positive. I use it as an individual, but I would also be happy to use it as a team if I had subcontractors.

Pros:

Toggl is free, and it's highly useful for documenting hourly work on projects. As a consultant, I use it to create documentation of my hours for my nonprofit clients whom I bill hourly. As a journalist, I might put a hundred hours into a story before I get paid — tracking that time helps me negotiate the rate I deserve later. When I'm juggling multiple clients or commitments, or very busy, this helps me feel like my work time has a concrete start and end point, too.

Cons:

I often leave the timer on, so I log back in and it says I've spent 100 hours on something — but this is easily fixable. I have no complaints with Toggl's functionality — and did I mention that the version for individual users is free?

Good choice for time tracking app

5.0 last year

Comments: Despite being used to the interface of other software it was basically very similar so its operation was very simple. Perhaps because it is one of the oldest tools on the market in this area, toggl ends up being the most stable option I have experience with. In my time of use, I had situations in which toggl was available and the other tool was not, It happens the other way around as well, toggl also had problems, but they were in a much smaller amount.

Pros:

It provides a fast and simple interface to track time and manage tasks time spread directly integrated to Atlassian Jira with browser plugins.

Cons:

I use another software tool to perform a personal time tracking and toggl does not have a natural and out of the box plugin to it in a way I used toggl to control task level time span and another application to track project wide time span

The best time tracking app!!

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Before I used an Excel sheet to record what projects I worked on, from what time to what time... and that needed a lot of maintenance, and I eventually stopped using it.
With Toggl Track I can see which days I worked over time, or under time, so that at the end of the week I can compensate, and when it is time for timesheets, I can go to Toggl and see how much time I spent on which projects.
It is also useful when you have a time budget for a specific task, I can compare the time spent VS budget, and see how I can improve (work more efficiently).
Toggl Track has made tracking time easy and effortless.

Pros:

The first thing that I liked when I started using Toggl Track is how the app looks. For something you will use everyday, it must have beautiful design, and in my opinion this app is well designed. Second for me is how practical it is to log the time entries. Some apps are online only (which I am not a big fan), and this app allows time to be tracked on a windows app, android, apple devices, internet browsers... I used the Windows app the most because I log my work hours and I work mainly on a laptop. Third is how easy is it to find relevant information about time tracked, or time reports, and Toggl Track gives me weekly reports with all the projects I worked on, it can give how much time I have spent on a project overall, and recently we can see our time logs on a calendar view (very useful).

Cons:

One feature I felt was missing is the Google Calendar integration, but I received a notification today to inform me that the feature is now available for beta users, so it is coming (and we do have the option of URL for paid users). In general I don't like monthly subscriptions, and I prefer to avoid those when I can... and I would gladly pay for a once-off fee (reasonable for my corner of the world)... but the free version does all that I need from the software, so I can't really count that as a negative really. I am not a big fan of the pink app color... but don't hate it either... just wish they picked a different color.

Toggl is a great tool to centrally manage/track time against our projects

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: I have had no issues with using Toggl. We have been using it since before it did all of the extra cool stuff for project management, etc. so the core of the application has always been a great tool for us.

Pros:

Toggle is very easy to use. The Windows app has an easy punch in and punch out function allowing quick changes in time management. The integration with JIRA (our task management software for development projects) has made the process even simpler. The support team for toggle surprise me by their greatness every time I need them - it is rare to find a company with a responsive and helpful support team available. I have yet to leave a support chat unsatisfied or frustrated.

Cons:

Because this is mandatory I'll insert the one thing I don't like. I think the tiered pricing for features can be a bit annoying. As features are added to the time tracking tool they are at an additional cost which I'm not looking to increase the costs of the tool at this time but would like to see additional features within the licensed product I use as it is good to have ongoing improvements.

Time management has never been so easy!

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: It is great! After our first week with Toggl, my son was able to decrease the amount of time he spent getting distracted by a full hour each day. When I showed him just how much time he was spending on each class, and how much quicker he finished his assignments when he just focused he was able to see the positives.

Pros:

I use Toggl to track both mine and my child's schoolwork on a daily basis. While he is simply navigating third grade compared to my taking classes to receive my bachelor's degree, Toggl helps us both immensely. The ability to track how much time you spend on each class is very helpful and let's you see just how productive you are. You can see how much time you have spent on a specific task/class or during a specific time period. This allows you to see which areas you might be spending too much time on. Toggl has shown me that I was spending roughly the same amount of time working on each classes' assignments, apart from one class. I further noted that I spent an additional 30 minutes a day finishing my work for Accounting and planned my future days accordingly. What I really love about it is how it allows me to track how much time my son is spending on each of his classes, especially since he is in virtual online school this year. There have been times where instead of learning his multiplication problems in Math, I have found him watching videos on Youtube and with Toggl tracking how much time he spends on each class I can easily see when and where he is getting distracted or may need help.

Cons:

It is much better to use Toggl on a desktop VS your phone, in my opinion. The text is very small and hard to read on the phone.

Super simple clean time tracking software, though recent changes make it less useful

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: It's the best cloud based time tracking option out there, period.

Pros:

I love that Toggl is quick to set up new projects and get to work. It shouldn't be a big deal to start tracking your time, because it's such a minimalistic task, but a lot of time trackers make it a big thing to start a project. I also like that it's cloud based, so no matter which office I'm working from, it's not a big deal. I like that it takes time entries in various formats (like I can type in 1h, or 60:00, or 1:00 and it understands them all), and I like that it's painless to switch projects (which I do every time a co-worker comes to ask me a question).

Cons:

I don't like the recent changes that don't let you see your history without generating a report. I also wish it integrated with Google Calendar/Outlook and would automatically import meetings/scheduled events and tag them with the correct project (or ask me if they ought to be tagged). I also don't like that it runs until you turn it off, without reminders or updates - like it'll run 8 hours and send me a reminder, but if I ignore that single note, it stops. I would like it to send multiple updates, or have the ability to cut off, and to send me a notification/alert to start it again the next morning, because sometimes I'll forget and come back two days later to find 48 hours tracked to a single project.

Effective tool for time optimization

5.0 6 months ago

Comments: I consider Toggl Track an essential tool for any office manager looking to optimize time management and improve their team's productivity. The platform offers a comprehensive feature set and excellent value for money.

Pros:

I love how this platform allows me to effectively track time spent on different tasks and projects. The ability to generate custom reports is another of my favorite features, as it allows me to analyze my team's performance and make informed decisions to improve productivity. In addition, Toggl Track's integration with other popular tools, such as Asana and Trello, streamlines my workflow and saves time on my daily tasks.

Cons:

This platform is very effective, but I wish they would include more customization options in the reports.

The easiest to use time tracker out there

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Go for it if you need to start tracking your time without every beginning of an entry requiring you to type in a load information before the timer starts. Try with patience if you plan to use the browser version and the app simultaneously as the sync is way off. If you only stick to a single device to start and stop, be it the mobile app or browser version - it's all good. P.S. It might be that the desktop app solves this issue, but I'm not overly fond of installing something separately.

Pros:

+ I needed something that I can start and edit later to avoid distractions. This does it perfectly. You can start a timer and give it a description and project later (a surprisingly small amount of products had this). + A great set of features even for a free user (report exports, long history). + Handy renaming of more than a single entry.

Cons:

- The one and only thing that frustrates me is the awful sync between the desktop and mobile. I have since stopped using the mobile app and keep a tab open on my PC to start and stop when I need it. Not a huge issue for me as time tracking is usually work related.

Efficent tool for time/project management

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: This program helped the team to have a realistic understanding of the actual time spend in different activities. This allowed us to plan better our work and projects for the next months. We have also used it to measures the request we receive from external team in order to decide if in the future, we we can manage them internally or not.

Pros:

If you don't have a lot of experience in project management or you start managing a task that is outside your daily work, it is very easy to underestimate the amount of time you need to complete it. This can cause your employees to be upset or be frustrated when trying to reach unrealistic deadlines. Toggl is a very simple tool, but help you understand how many time you have dedicated to a task so you will have a better understanding in how your time is allocated in certain activities. This is very useful when showing clients or management how much time and resources was really needed for each project phase. Toggl offers the ability to label projects, create groups and sends reminders when you left your timer running for too long. It also have a reporting sessions that is mainly basic but contains all the important information you might need for simple reports, To start working with the tool is very easy and it requires only a few minutes to create your account and set up.

Cons:

My only complaint so far is the trial version allows you to add only 5 team members on your group. It is a pity, because this small limit, does not allow you to understand how powerful this tool is when managing the tasks/times of big teams
