choose better software
About OpenTable
THE restaurant management platform to help you fill seats, run smoother shifts, grow guest relationships, and drive more revenue.
Free, convenient, easy to use, most restaurants use it now, always remembers my log in, quick receipts and customer service.
This problem seems to happen every once and a while.

Best app for restaurants reservations
Pros:
It's easy to search and schedule reservations, the platform works very fast.
Cons:
There are some features that are not than intuitive in the navigation like canceling a reservation.
Alternatives Considered:
Good reservation software but not pricing friendly
Comments: The software serves its purpose adequately, allowing customers to easily spot my restaurant's name on the list. It doesn't bring much joy or disappointment, but it is primarily intended for marketing purposes. The overall experience is moderate, with no significant highs or lows.
Pros:
The reservation software is commendable in terms of functionality and features. However, it may not be particularly accommodating in terms of pricing.
Cons:
The cost of utilizing it is rather steep, especially considering its sole functionality of making reservations.
Arrogant Company
Comments: It was awful, too expensive, had no training, and did not support our restaurant. They only support false accusations and don't care about our restaurant's success.
Pros:
It's well known. But there were NO pros for my company. They drained us monthly with their expensive plan and added little to no value in growing our company.
Cons:
Far too expensive, customer service was deplorable, and their arrogance was overwhelming. We are a small business and could not afford their services any longer. Three days after we canceled our service, we received an erroneous review, and Open Table did not address the issue even though it had nothing to do with our restaurant. It was a personal opinion of how we accepted his criticism. With partnership like Open Table who needs enemies, if you have any other choice run from open table and utilize Tock.
Sisserou's Restaurant
Pros:
The POS integration and that it is widely used by patrons as a go to reservation source.
Cons:
Would like more customizable reporting features on the back end and shortcut features on the floorplan view for hosts. We used Yelp prior to switching to OpenTable and their user interface for hosts had more shortcut features that our hosts do miss.
Alternatives Considered:
Good but $$$$!
Pros:
Customer service is always spot on and helpful.
Cons:
Cost to run promotions is too high. If I pay $7.50/pp, I lose money.
Helpful and convenient
Comments: Great! It is a very helpful app. I order take out a lot and use this app for orders and viewing restaurants etc.
Pros:
The convenience of it definitely. I love that you can view the restaurant menu’s, make reservations and even see customer reviews.
Cons:
It would crash on my phone every now and again, typically when I’m out of internet range.
Wouldn't use it if I didn't have to
Pros:
Some elements of the platform are intuitive and easy to use. Pacing controls work pretty well, but I don't like much else.
Cons:
I spent years avoiding using OpenTable because I take issue with their pricing structure. In 2022 our brand mandated its use, so we made the switch. There are a handful of useful features but I have largely been unimpressed with it. I dislike that each device you use it on has different functionality -- I feel we should largely be able to do the same things on the mobile app that we can on an ipad or a PC. It makes things more cumbersome than they should be. I still take issue with their pricing structure as we operated our business for nearly 20 years using platforms that do not have a per-cover charge. And for the price we should have more robust messaging (SMS), better automated confirmation processes, and we should be able to take a credit card guarantee via our local website booking widget without having to pay the per-cover price (this is an issue with their API and I have not been given any timeline of a fix). Overall I'm largely unimpressed, just as I always expected to be.
Its the main star - but I wouldn't go all in
Comments: Easy to use and to customize. I like the mobile app on the client side. Cover flow helps with booking management. Guest data is not as robust as other platforms. Its worth using in conjunction with platform of choice so as to capture all guests
Pros:
Most widely used platform makes it very powerful. Easy to use booking widget and making campaigns.
Cons:
Very expensive if you can't route guests to book direct with your booking widget. Customer service has really gone downhill in the last few years.
OpenTable Review
Pros:
I love the ease of use both through the website and app and that you are able to earn points.
Cons:
I dislike that sometimes there are discrepancies between OpenTable and the restaurant itself.
Awesome app!
Comments: I have been using open table for a few years now! Ease of access when it comes to a fancy date nite!
Pros:
I liked that I was able to book a table instead of driving and finding out there was a long wait!
Cons:
The only downside, is that it’s not availiable in every town, or for every place to eat!
Joined for free during a covid deal
Comments: Unfortunately I feel like it's mandatory now. But I long for the days before covid when we purposefully DIDN'T take reservations.
Pros:
I liked that it was free for a while. It was essential when we had only 5 tables during covid mandatory outdoor dining.
Cons:
You get used to having it, you customers get used to having it, and then the price seems exorbitant.
Great product
Pros:
Ease and the customer facing ability to get your restaurant reservations.
Cons:
It should have a profile for restaurants that are not on it to really show the maximum dining options
Opentable helps streamline restaurant operations and enhance guest experience
Comments: OpenTable has been a game-changer for my client's restaurant. Its restaurant management and reservation management features, coupled with its commitment to enhancing the guest experience, make it a key part of my client's operations.
Pros:
From managing reservations to optimizing seating arrangements and tracking guest preferences, OpenTable simplifies every aspect of running a restaurant for my clients. Everyone can easily view and manage reservations, ensuring that we can accommodate guests efficiently and effectively. And waitlist management/table status updates enable us to minimize wait times.
Cons:
There is nothing I dislike about Opentable.
OpenTable Review
Comments: Love it! Would recommend to anyone because it has something for everyone!
Pros:
I use OpenTable at least once a week to book reservations for either myself & my boyfriend or a group of friends and I absolutely love it. The best parts of the application are that you can customize what you're looking for (this is specifically helpful for dates/times and different types of food), keep track of your reservations and save favorites. I also love that you can share the reservation with other attendees and that it populates directly to your Google calendar so you never forget what you've booked!
Cons:
The only thing that I dislike about OpenTable is that it does not include all restaurants in the area. I know that this is not the fault of OpenTable itself and that these restaurants have not signed up to use the application - but it just makes the whole process of finding a reservation more limited/difficult, especially when in a new area.
Love it when I see that a restaurant uses OpenTable
Pros:
Ease of reservations, text reminders are amazing. You can modify or cancel on your own as well.
Cons:
Can be annoying to navigate on your phone
Date night made easy
Pros:
Makes finding and booking a restaurant so easy and straight forward
Cons:
In some areas open table isn’t as adopted, for example going aboard it would be super useful but not always a lot of restaurants are registered
Make Your Reservations Now
Pros:
I love the ease of making reservations. You can book in advance or find reservations same day depending on availability. It is easy to use and I love to utilize it for busy restaurants.
Cons:
Not every restaurant is a member so sometimes there will be a place that does not utilize OpenTable and you have to make a reservation elsewhere.
Open Table
Pros:
Open Table has a great ease of use and guest awareness.
Cons:
Open Table can be costly but it is definitely a great help.
Easiest way to make a reservation
Pros:
I love that I don't have to call into a restaurant. Instead, I can make a reservation conveniently from my phone at any time and ensure that we are correctly in the restaurant's system. I can even leave notes for the owner.
Cons:
There have been times where it doesn't allow for us to make a reservation but there is indeed capacity at the restaurant. I think this is more of an error on the restaurant's end.
Great app that makes reservations easier!
Comments: Makes reservations and life easier when it comes to planning.
Pros:
I love the ability to see what restaurants have availability on what works for my schedule. It's easier to coordinate with others for seating time because I can just screenshot the options to my party and we can decide instead of calling. I also love the email confirmation and ability to put it in my Google calendar.
Cons:
I haven't had any associated negative issues with the app
Classic Easy Booking
Comments: Pleasurable and straight forward booking.
Pros:
The ease of use and speed of booking a reservation.
Cons:
It’s another app of many and not all restaurants use it.
Reservations made easy
Comments: Super useful and reliable. Very user friendly and a great app.
Pros:
I can book a restaurant on my phone and I can add my reservation to my calendar. It is reliable because you get a confirmation too.
Cons:
There is nothing that I don't like about this app. It was so useful especially when I am on vacation and I can book reservations at the tap of my phone.
Time Saver
Comments: Having an online presence through open table is key. Everyone uses this platform.
Pros:
Allowing guests to book online and opening up space for guests to book online is super helpful and helps bring in extra $$$.
Cons:
I wish that the desktop and ipad version were the same. I wish you could block tables on the dekstop version like you do on the ipad.
It does draw a new crowd
Pros:
A new customer base appears! It allows the consumer to book restaurants from their app quite easily.
Cons:
It does cost some money to bring those customers in.

My Take on OpenTable
Comments: My overall experience with OpenTable is nice. I enjoyed using this app and I like it when I get reservations and places to go to eat.
Pros:
What I like about OpenTable is that I can reserve a table, view places to eat, find cuisines, enjoy, and meet people. Also, to view the menus, specials, and promotions, and see OpenTable's rewards systems.
Cons:
There is not much I dislike or hate on OpenTable so far but it's fine and nice so far. So far, so good for me when it comes to OpenTable.
