Just take as an example Google Analytics. TrackingDesk UI is complex, but it tries to make the job easier. You can use it to track affiliate campaigns but also SEO efforts. The software allow a lot of settings and is possible to track any kind of campaign. They have prebuilt templates for multiple platforms (and they are always adding new one's almost weekly) which make life super easy.
