Think Open Source, Think Big Business

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: I recommended the use of Odoo to our company, especially for the excellent CRM module. We are now in the testing phase. Looking ahead, I am thinking about the Maintenance, Documents, Projects and Fleet module. All on-premise.

Pros:

It's Open Source, very sophisticated. Third-party ready-made Odoo virtual installations are also excellent. A number of third-party add-ons.

Cons:

The options for setting the user rights policy are not completely satisfactory or confusing and complex for an inexperienced user. However, this does not prevent immediate use as is.

Comments: My overall experience with Odoo has been positive. I’m very happy with the results and progress we’ve made using the platform—it’s everything we wanted and even exceeds our expectations in some areas. However, there are times when the system can be a bit confusing and repetitive, which can slow down our workflow. Despite these occasional challenges, Odoo has been a valuable tool for our business, and we’re pleased with the direction we’re headed.

Pros:

What I liked most about Odoo is the system's adaptability—it’s incredibly versatile and can be tailored to fit our specific needs. I also want to highlight the outstanding service we received from our consultant, [sensitive content hidden] He’s been extremely attentive and helpful throughout the entire process, making sure we get the most out of the platform.

Cons:

What I liked least about Odoo is the way consulting hours are charged and accounted for. We’re concerned about being billed for time spent resolving issues that aren’t our fault, such as bugs or errors within Odoo itself. It would be more reassuring if there was a clearer distinction between time spent on genuine consulting and time spent addressing system-related problems.

Horrific experience for a small business

1.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: Horrific. I feel like they literally stole my money. Nobody could help me quickly without me paying insane amounts of money for them to just literally fix bugs in their system. I sent in an insane amount of help tickets given that I didn't really need the most advanced system in the world. If you are a small business and have only a small amount of tech experience, avoid Odoo like the plague. I cannot speak to how they might be with more advanced needs, but for me, it was genuinely the worst customer experience I have ever had.

Pros:

They have a huge variety of apps to choose from and customize. You are able to adapt the software to your needs, however...do not expect to get adequate help or for their instructions to be up to date.

Cons:

Almost everything. After purchasing and getting close to the opening of my business, I realized it was probably too complicated a software for me given that my needs as a one-man business are super low. However, I was fine with that - as long as things worked. And they did not. Their point of sale app repeated stopped working completely while my shop was open, and nobody could help me over the phone (even though it was urgent). I would send error codes to their tech team, and every single time, the tech team said they couldn't do anything with the error code. Their sales team was incredibly uninformed when I initially signed up, and told me that I would be able to use my own IoT box without subscribing to the odoo IoT subscription. It became very apparent that this was not the case, fine, I paid for the IoT subscription - then as soon as I did, we realized that the reason we needed could be circumvented very easily. Not to mention, we couldn't connect it to our receipt printer to begin with, and their online instructions were about 10 years out of date. We have since switched to shopify and everything has worked SO smoothly. All I needed was a simple point of sale and inventory system, and Odoo oversold and dramatically underdelivered. My sales rep was on vacation and unable to help me when I opened my business. The large majority of my stress was caused by their system literally not working. My experience with them was a disaster and despite them completely misleading me about the IoT box integration, they refuse to reimburse me. This is apparently their policy, which to me, seems incredibly unethical. Don't sell me something I don't need when the salesperson is on vacation or refuses to talk to me. I cannot scream loud enough for you to avoid this if you are a small business.

Comments: Satisficed with the outcome and how the software is adapted to our needs. Support if not bad and they give you a solution.

Pros:

Open source and easy to troubleshoot. I give you the freedom to customize the apps according to your needs. Very important for businesses with complex processes that do not follow standards.

Cons:

Sometimes there is a fine line on support if you are not hosted in Odoo.sh. Not fare at all for self hosted companies

Love Odoo software. Odoo Service Pack for setup is HORRIBLE!

4.0 2 weeks ago New

Comments: I strongly discourage anyone from using the Odoo Training Service Pack of hours. We had a horrible experience. The Business Service Analysts who work with you are a joke. I imagine there are some good ones. The program is set up poorly from square one. Regardless of your type of business, you receive the BSA who becomes available next. Even if they have no experience, or relatively little, with your industry. You only have ONE person. Not a team of people. To top it off, we had 3 BSA and all were within their first few months with Odoo. I wish I had a dollar for every time our first BSA said "I don't know." I will be escalating my fight with Odoo to receive a refund for some hours. For instance, we were charged for cancelling a weekly meeting that wasn't confirmed since I was literally in a foreign jungle with very spotty internet. Yet, when our BSA didn't show up one week and we had to email (there is no way to call your BSA) to find out via auto-reply that he was out of the office, well...there was no offsetting penalty against Odoo. We were charged many hours for slow work that I can now do myself in half the time! Use a third party company that specializes in your industry or is close to your location and can visit. The Odoo BSA Service Pack program is so poor that the company actually told me that "We don't guarantee the quality of our service." That should tell you all that you need to know about paying Odoo for implementation of your program.

Pros:

There are so many apps/modules that can all be integrated. You can pick and choose which apps to start with and add more as you need or fee comfortable. Small or large businesses can successfully use Odoo.

Cons:

Some things are a bit comlex for a small company with limited people to implement what we want. We are a CUSTOM PRODUCTS manufacturing company and there aren't as many resources to learn how to handle manufacturing custom products. Odoo would be great for building a house or an airplane. But I'm struggling to figure out how to have a good flow with 100 orders a day for custom rubber stamps, nameplates, signs and embroidery.

Excellent tool!

Comments: "My overall experience with Odoo has been excellent. The platform is robust and versatile, catering to a wide range of business needs. The user interface is intuitive, making it easy to navigate and utilize its features. I have found it to be a valuable tool for managing my business operations efficiently."

Pros:

"I really appreciate how quickly and efficiently Odoo resolves issues. The support team is responsive and knowledgeable, which significantly enhances my overall experience with the platform. Their ability to solve problems promptly is a standout feature that I value highly."

Cons:

"I have not encountered any significant issues with Odoo so far. Every aspect of the service has met my expectations, and I have found the platform to be user-friendly and effective in meeting my business needs. However, if I had to mention something, perhaps the onboarding process could be a bit more streamlined for new users."

Comments: Odoo's customer service has often been really responsive - this is not always the case with their partners..... choose carefully.

Pros:

Odoo is software with huge possibilities whether your business is large or small. It captures all the data that you require for your business and integrates many aspects of the business workflow.

Cons:

It sometimes feels as though one is driving a ferrari with a learner's licence. Keep your expectations under control and be prepared to put a lot of time into learning how to get the best out of the software.

Oversold and Underdelivered

3.0 5 years ago

Comments: We purchased Odoo just about a year ago. We saw the potential it had, which drew our appeal. We began implementation and as it proceeded, we hit several points where we had to push back our launch date. We had (and still have) several bugs and issues with the software we face on a daily basis. We invested over double our initial budget on service hours and had to go back and forth with various Odoo Sales Team members just to be compensated for a chunk of the time reimbursed for issues that should have been taken care of. We have fully migrated our first company, and still in process of migrating our second.

Pros:

-Odoo has a vast array of applications that appear very user friendly -Can automate several manual functions that occur day-to-day -Accessible on the go -Have the ability to customize the system to meet your company's needs

Cons:

-Setting up and configuring the database is almost impossible without support - Several technical bugs and glitches -Have to go through several hoops just to undo validated actions (ex: Validated Invoices, Orders) -Can be slow at times -Support has slow turn around times -Sales Team overpromises and under-delivers

Hi Rajiv, thanks for your review. We are sorry to hear you had challenges with configuration. While self-implementation is free, we typically recommend getting technical services either internally, with Odoo directly, or with one of our thousands of Official Partner organizations worldwide. Pro vs Cons of Business with Odoo

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: Overall its good for SM businesses, very effective where you have your own devolpment team. Mostly every business/erp aspect is available.

Pros:

Easy to install, every module functionalities available, wide support on google, its good for SMEs, sufficient feature to track and control finance, inventroy, sale and purchase. stratigic, tactic and operation roles are aded in features, you can formulate your busiess needs accordingly.

Cons:

Customization is not easy, even less active on github, its not so speedy, modules are integerated mixed with local and internet, it should be either local or inenet, price is higher, customization is also costly due to limited support/devolpment documentation.

Terrible experience with Odoo and locked into 3 year contract

2.0 3 months ago

Comments: The implementation process is terrible, and Odoo being newer and less used in the US means their support and staff really do not know much about the system. You are paying them to learn with you, and there is no way to talk to the people that might know the system. It seems all of their developers are overseas, so timing is a real issue. We were told our implementation would be complete by the end of January, and we are in July now and still none of out inventory stays in sync on any of out platforms.(Amazon, eBay and WooCommerce). No one at Odoo can figure out why. One of the support techs told me they do not know much about setting up eBay and showed me what they found about it when the googled the issue. Not very comforting. We have been overselling on our platforms, and that is a very bad thing as am Amazon and eBay seller. We can't get them to prioritize us and get the issues resolved. We were told by our sales consultant and his manager that we would be getting a refund of 100% of the implementation costs, and we have this in email from them. We have still not received this and it is 3 months later. They will no longer even respond to questions about the refund. We are locked into a 3 year, very expensive contract with no hope at this point that the system will ever work for us. We are at the point where we fell we are just going to need to leave Odoo for a new system and it will be a huge loss and almost a year of lost time and resources. They absolutely do not care about their customers.

Pros:

We liked the variety of apps Odoo had available for different business uses. We also liked that Odoo could keep our inventory in sync with all of our selling platforms, such as Amazon, eBay and WooCommerce. We also liked the cost, much less expensive than Netsuite. Please see our overall comments below for the after sales call and contract signing.

Cons:

Lack of customization of reports without paying Odoo a lot of money to make the changes. Very few report overall. Hard to pull your data from the system due to different application working together.

Complete set of business management software

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Odoo has helped us to automate our business process securely while leveraging more revenue.

Pros:

The best part about Odoo is its open-source software which you can download and run on your private server, which makes it more secure and reliable. Odoo comes with integrated apps for CRM, eCommerce, accounting, PoS, and project management. The software is easy to implement with detailed documentation and active community support.

Cons:

The software is written in high-level open-source interpreted Python language. If the software was written in JAVA it would have been even better.

Comments: I am odoo developer and providing customization and the apps to integrate with odoo. Being a developer i feel this is future . The world will recognize its versitality verysoon. Its the solution to all problem at one place. We can summrize it by saying its platfourm where you have to put all your problems and leave it for odoo to solve. Because its builtin app most likley solve all your problems.

Pros:

Its feels tricky at first. Butt when you starts using it you will be in love with his versitality.. I like most the control that you can control your stuff at one place. Which is now a days is big prob. You can change optimize and integrate the stuff with very little effort.

Cons:

When you comes to cons. It usally feel tricky. Which may make you away from using it. Next you have to putt some effort to understand what actually is going around.

Covers most of the organisational needs but need customization as well

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: Have experience of consulting and over seeing the implementation ( 14 Implementations) of Odoo from version 8 to 11 for the past 4 years.

Pros:

1) Opensource and SaaS option 2) Easy to use - Maintained uniformity across modules 3) Availability of Third Party apps 4) OCA community support 5) No other opensource ERP covers Inventory (Product master - ability to handle product variance / Inventory valuation / Landing Cost) and Recruitment functionality like odoo 6) Odoo Enterprise Accounting reporting is a plus 7) Easy to customize or develop new module using Odoo Studio if your an enterprise customer 8) Developing new module even in enterprise will not take much time 9) Partners availability across globe is a plus 10) Having Ecommerce functionality in an ERP is great advantage

Cons:

1) Need customization for localization ( Both HRMS - End of service calculation and Taxation) 2) Must to have functionalities are moved from community to enterprise form Odoo version 9 onward till odoo 12 3)Must to have accounting reports moved to Odoo enterprise 4)Not providing incremental update to the existing version is minus 5) Different pricing for different region 6) Document management features could have been better even-though they released few more functionalities in Odoo 12

We like to see the Pros in order to understand where our community finds the most value, as well as the Cons to see where we can improve. Note for some of these (such as Documents management) that our software is constantly being updated and improved by a global team of awesome developers to bring features like this to our users. If you are on the SaaS platform, these features are delivered to you automatically without any need to update or reconfigure (we like to make things simple and easy). DO NOT BUY SUPPORT PACK - Outside Source Help

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: I would say this has been an overall average experience. The pros of this ERP system outweigh the very negative start to using this system, and I cannot stress enough to not deal with the Support Pack system as the level of talent of Odoo Project Managers is low. They will overcharge you and not really give you much more than anything you could have expected from a recent graduate out of a college.

Pros:

We loved this for the ERP system of integrating our lead management, supply chain management, quotation system, accounting system, CRM system, and inventory all into one area. We previously had to force together multiple different sites and systems (i.e. Jobber, Quickbooks, Monday/DaPulse) and after many years of growth we simply have outgrown these dated systems and can no longer afford the time to micromanage so many transactions. We also needed automation on multiple areas of our service, which Odoo has been able to provide. After extensive training, NOT FROM ODOO LET ME TELL YOU, we have been able to customize this fairly well to our complicated value add manufacturing processes.

Cons:

I have had the worst time with customer service when it comes to Support Pack Hours. Not only were we billed for every millisecond of time, but we were easily overcharged for time as well. One simple email response would take 6-10 minutes of our support park. After asking for a service level document multiple times, they simply have not provided one. They also hid the fact that support pack hours expire. We began our Odoo integration just before COVID hit, and we had to stop the Odoo integration for a few months, only to be met with many hours being used on ODOO EMAILING US for updates on when we would come back. In the time spent with them implementing our systems to Odoo, they easily have dropped the ball so much with such low support that we had to hire a third party consultant to get this system up and running the way THEY MARKETED TO US and how we initially envisioned this working.

We liked them so much we Partnered with them

5.0 7 years ago

Comments: All of my systems and customer data are centralized in one easy to use system

Pros:

As a former Netsuite and Salesforce partner, our clients demanded more in the form of ease of use, mobility and functionality without breaking the bank. We started off by migrating ourselves off of our Netsuite system. This move simplified all of our daily work lives so much, we brought this solution to our client base. From Professional Services, Manufacturing and Warehouse operations, Odoo was an excellent fit and an extremely good value. The company improves the software almost daily and with thousands of prebuilt apps in their app store, adding major functionality and workflow is simple. Also the open nature of the code makes it the absolute most flexible ERP/CRM/MRP software on the market. Odoo maintains a few versions Community(Free) and Hosted(Saas) and Enterprise(Self Hosted). We recommend either Hosted or Enterprise(Most Recommended) for business. The Community edition is mostly for developers to have an easy way to learn the basics. The Enterprise edition is packed with additional advanced features necessary for production use, and is supported by Odoo and the Odoo Partner Channel. Any company in the search for an ERP system should include Odoo in their list.

Cons:

Documentation needs improvement. Most documents and answers are not centralized but scattered between Youtube, and Odoo Community and GitHub although they have been building a training portal.

Odoo is great except for the consultants and their sales team

3.0 2 years ago

Comments: I have to say that their sales teams have the only purpose of having the greater profit instead of find a solution for the Customer. Be careful with them. My wife bought 2 years of license and 50 hours of a consultant. After 3 hours the consultant said that the requirements of the project were not able in odoo. After 3 months they don't want to give our money back. It is sad to work with companies that have such little ethics.

Pros:

The software is great. Every part of your business is going to be integrated in a web of information easy to access. Every payment is linked to the invoices and the invoices to the Sales Orders. The Inventory Management is easy to use and I think it is difficult to get something as good in the same price range.

Cons:

Their sales team just want to sell you more instead of listening to the customer requirements. I have been working with odoo for 4 years in my company. I made a presentation of some requirements that my wife's company needed to consider using odoo. The salesman said that every requirement was possible. Nevertheless, after we paid 50 hours of a consultant and 2 years of license the consultant said that the requirements were not possible. For me odoo is very difficult to rate. I had the great experience of my company in which the software worked well. Also, I have the experience of my wife's company that is a disaster. I think the problem is that the sales teams don't know the product and they are selling air. They should have a 5 hours package with a consultant to manage the feasibility of the project. My second experience with odoo was a complete scam and a lack of ethics from the company.

"Odoo: the key to more efficient and profitable business management - my testimony".

5.0 last year

Comments: With Odoo, I have been able to solve several important business problems for my company. Firstly, the platform has allowed me to centralise all my business operations in one place, eliminating the need to use several separate software and tools to manage different functions of my business. This has greatly improved the efficiency and productivity of my employees, allowing them to spend less time juggling different tools and more time focusing on their core tasks. In addition, Odoo's project management functionality allowed me to better track the progress of my projects, set clear deadlines and ensure that tasks were properly allocated to team members. This allowed for better collaboration between team members and more efficient management of resources. I was also able to track sales and purchases more efficiently, using Odoo's stock management and invoicing features. Finally, one of the main benefits I have realised from using Odoo is better visibility of my business as a whole. The real-time dashboards have allowed me to track progress in real time, monitor sales and expenses and analyse business performance. This has enabled me to make better and faster decisions based on accurate data rather than estimates or hunches. In short, Odoo has enabled me to manage my business operations more effectively, reduce costs and improve the profitability of my business.

Pros:

What I liked most about Odoo was its ability to provide a complete solution for managing my business. With Odoo, I was able to consolidate all my business operations in one place, from sales and purchasing management to project and human resources management. I also liked the flexibility of the platform, which allowed me to customise processes and functionality to meet the specific needs of my business. Finally, I found Odoo to be very easy to use, even for users without extensive technical knowledge. The user-friendly interface and online tutorials allowed me to get started quickly and take full advantage of Odoo's features. All in all, I found the Odoo solution to be very effective in streamlining my business processes and improving the management of my company.

Cons:

Although I really like the Odoo solution, there were a few things that I found problematic. Firstly, I found that some features were less intuitive than others, which meant I had to search longer than I would have liked to find solutions to my problems. Also, the initial installation process of Odoo can be a bit complicated, especially if you are not used to working with open-source software. Finally, I found that the online documentation and community forums were not always very clear, which sometimes made it difficult to find information on specific issues. However, on the whole, these problems were minor compared to the benefits I saw from using Odoo.

Cool idea - Terrible PAID customer support - Buggy software

3.0 4 years ago

Comments: Very frustrating. I'm used to working with Open Source platforms and expect no support from platform developers except forums and white papers. When I pay for support, I expect support. Odoo PAID customer service acts like they are donating their time. In short, unless you have a python coder on staff, do NOT use Odoo.

Pros:

*Opinions shared are from a 20 year marketing pro who knows his way around HTML/CSS/JS/PHP and running a LAMP config server. Tons of features and full suite of integrated apps. But all of them are buggy and PAID customer support is terrible.

Cons:

*Opinions shared are from a 20 year marketing pro who knows his way around HTML/CSS/JS/Lite PHP and running a LAMP config server. Terrible customer support. I mean, really, really bad. Takes a week or more, if ever, to get email questions answered. When answered, I get responses like this. "Yes, you are right. That is broken. We might fix it in the next VERSION. Or, you can pay us extra to fix it in this version." Odoo customization cost base development fee plus $5per dev hour per month forever. So, a 20 hour CSS/HTML/JS customization would cost BASE, plus $100 per month FOREVER. Odoo.sh multi website platform is a nightmare from SEO pov. Out of the box themes are responsive, but rudimentary. Their ecommerce themes are very bad. Back office sales order process takes about 20 clicks to complete . POS systems have limited hardware options Adding inventory is multi-screen / excessive click function. Shipping apps don't work well. All non-tech staff HATE the platform. System generates excess volumes of emails that can't be turned off. Paid hosting doesn't support NON WWW domain names. I never saw that problem in 20 years of hosting websites! The list goes on, but there isn't enough space here to write all the problems with the PAID version with PAID customer support.

Review for Business Management Software

Comments: In my experience, Odoo comes in two versions: Community, which is free and open-source, and Enterprise, which requires a paid subscription per user. Implementing Odoo typically requires skilled functional consultants and technical experts. In Enterprise version, you can get the support from Odoo team.

Pros:

Odoo offers ease of customization and seamless integration with other systems, such as payment gateways, SMS gateways, and HR software. The Odoo Community version is free to use. Active community provides access to a wealth of resources, support forums, and collaboration opportunities

Cons:

Odoo users need to be well-trained in Odoo, as bulk import is sensitive to errors. Odoo's software modules can be complex in version upgrades.
