Datadog for log analysis of cloud

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Till now we have one of the good experience with the data dog as it is helping us a lot in monitoring our cloud and database server. A support from datadog team is also good thing to consider.

Pros:

The best feature of data dog is real time monitoring of logs and vulnerability scan which stands unique to save the server and cloud from further damaging

Cons:

The datadog user interface is very hard to learn and with the minimum training anyone cannot operate it fully also a lot of integrations are very difficult to operate.

Alternatives Considered: Panther

Reasons for Switching to Datadog: Price of datadog is very less when compared to other competitors and data dog has lot of feature which stands a top among its competitors datadog can work very smoothly in large data as well.

Excellent solutions that need some more explaining

4.0 2 months ago New

Pros:

All-in-one out of the box solutions for observability

Cons:

Documentation is lacking in certain APIs. Specifically, the python SDK seems to have features that aren't mentioned in the documentation for dashboards. The widgets are able to accept **kwargs that exist in the JSON definition in the dashboards, but not in the documentation

Best Single Pane of Glass Monitoring Solution

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Overall, I like DataDog a lot. It beats the various disparate monitoring products we were using before.

Pros:

APM and single pain of glass. This makes it easy to get host metrics for resource utilization and an easy traceback for exceptions.

Cons:

Searching logs is not as intuitive as I would like. Text search doesn't work when logs are sent as JSON. Simple grep would make things easier.

Alternatives Considered: New Relic

Reasons for Choosing Datadog: single pane of glass. increased capabiilities of datadog, like APM

Switched From: Sentry, SignalFx and Papertrail

Reasons for Switching to Datadog: I prefered the interace of DataDog over New Relic

Great experience with Datadog

5.0 2 months ago New

Pros:

RUM has helped us in identifying the frustrations of end user, visibly view how the end user is interacting with our application and ultimately serve our users better and improve usability for them. Also the Datadog monitors for monitoring CPU and memory usage have been a real game changer in resolving memory leaks.

Cons:

Something to improve on is capture information logs whenever required in the RUM sessions in case we want to debug certain scenarios even before errors happen.

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Overall, datadog is a good tool that I use within our organization's tool stack to look at logs to identify issues and troubleshoot for our customers.

Pros:

The dashboard in datadog is very customizable, allowing me to view metrics and logs to my preference. This in my opinion, allows me to work very efficiently. I also appreciate the alerting system as it helps me catch and identify problems.

Cons:

The learning curve was a bit hard to understand at first, as there was a lot of options at the start that makes it feel overwhelming.

Datadog has been super helpful

4.0 2 months ago New

Pros:

Dashboard and session logs all at one place is good thing to have, also the services listed and getting data around it is also good. Information of service like chart, logs, APIs are good as well

Cons:

Tracing logs can be made bit more simpler like the most useful resource columns should be added directly

My first exposure to APMs, I really like DataDog

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: I really like DataDog. I love using it for live debugging mostly.

Pros:

I can logs from various environments and with many options to filter and seerch so I can tweak the settings and see the logs I am looking for.

Cons:

I found it a bit difficult to get my head around where to find what and how to make a simple query - but then it's probably because I was completely new to Application Performance Monitoring tools in general. Once I used the tool for some live debugging I got the hang of it :)

Happy switch from ELK to Datadog, and more

4.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Overall, I am happy with it. The transition from ELK stack to Datadog feels intuitive.

Pros:

Everything is packed into one platform, that makes it the single point when it comes to monitoring.

Cons:

Support for Maven and Gradle is not so great. It doesn't really know how to check for actual dependency versions used in my project.

Best Monitoring and Observability Tool

5.0 12 months ago

Comments: Best and good experience with datadog tool.

Pros:

Experience with Datadog is Best. Using this Tool since 1 year. I worked on many monitoring tool but this is the one best for cloud and infrastructure monitoring. Datadog provides many third party tools integration, we did many integration and monitored many services. we can setup the alerts on our services for let us know before any unusual activity happens. and main thing is we can redirect that alerts to our notification channel and our teams to work on that. We can integrated our frontend and backend applications and we can collect logs also for our application and we can more debug it. They have built in dashboard feature we can manually create dashboards according to our use case. we can also create synthetic scripts and synthetic monitors such as ping for testing our website is available or not or its properly working or not. we can query our data and fetch it accordingly. Talking about AWS and azure services integration, Its totally easy our teams hasn't fetch any issue, its easy as it is. overall experience is good while using this tool best for keep our application and services up to date and running. They have active customer service.

Cons:

Nothing to dislike about Datadog, pricing is quite high but this tool has providing you lot more integration and active customer support so you can raise your query and You will get feedback fast.

Pros:

The quality of insights it produces out of box is amazing. Earlier we were using a set of different tools for monitoring and logs but it helped us consolidate them giving us over 80% in cost s saving and a much better picture of whats going on

Cons:

Implementation can be challenging to start with but once we successfully updated our based docker images, it was quite easy to roll it out to more services

Real time Platform Monitoring Tools

5.0 last year

Comments: DataDog is the best observability monitoring tool to detect any type of error in the system. The user interface is very simple and customer support and account help our teams in providing training and guidance in case of any issue. It can easily integrate with all third-party tools like Jira, slack, opsgenie

Pros:

The most like features of datadog are it provides real-time monitoring of any happens In the system and it is easily customizable. With the help of logs, we can easily create the monitor and dashboards. It can easily use all other third-party tools and can create alerts. It also provides anomaly which works on past data and it is sensitive and useful. Datadog is also AI capable, There is a feature called Datadog Insight which can easily detect any error in the system.

Cons:

Datadog is a fairly new application, Learning advanced features we are not able to find much documentation and learning on the internet. It also stores limited historical data and licensing is fairly high compared to similar monitoring platforms.
