Servant Keeper gets across the board. Their salesman,

5.0 7 years ago

Comments: Online directory for church membership.
Saved many man days of work recording and tabulating contribution statements to the membership.
Opens door to online communication to church membership.'
Allows membership to review their giving statements at any time online.

Pros:

We formed a committee to review electronic giving in early November. In this process we learned that our church had purchased SK, but had not implemented it. After reviewing the benefits of SK we decided we should first implement SK before moving into electronic giving. We tested SK live for over a month to confirm that it work for us. Prior to SK we used PowerChurch Plus for membership records and manually recorded all of contribution records by hand on paper ledgers. The conversion from PCP went very well using the SK provided tool for data conversion. In this process we moved 525 families with 1149 members to SK from PCP in a manner of minutes. The SK salesman met with us almost daily over the phone to answer our questions when we were in the month long evaluation. He answered both functional and technical questions as we tested the functionality. At this point we have implemented the membership and contributions modules from SK. We are planning to implement the Directory next and then get into email ' text communication in the Church membership. The guys entering the contributions especially enjoyed doing the "Ka-Ching" feature that sounded every time they entered a contribution. Overall at this time we are very happy with SK and the service they have provided as we implemented the software. We decided to implement the "cloud" version of the software and it works as fast as the local version which we used in testing.

Cons:

We wish that all of the features were rolled up in the cost for the cloud version. Other than that there everything has worked as advertised.

Best customer service

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I probably would not have remained with you had it not been for your customer support. I am a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology and the customer support has been my lifeline.

Pros:

I have used Servant Keeper for over 20 years for our church management and to keep track of donations. The Help desk has been a great feature when I have had trouble navigating the site as well as the customer support site.

Cons:

As with any program, you must learn the features. I am in the middle of migrating our donation information back into Servant Keeper from Faithlife. I used Faithlife because of its app feature and having one stop shopping through that app for our membership. The process to get into the membership portal on Servant Keeper was a little more involved and I wanted our members to be able to keep track of their giving and print off their contribution sheets at the end of the year which was easier on the Faithlife site.

Weekly user of Servant Keeper, version 7

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: This has been a very reliable software as I have experienced very few issues with it. In the almost seven years I have used it, I think I have called for technical assistance only two or three times. My issues were resolved in a timely and helpful manner. I am a satisfied user of Servant Keeper.

Pros:

I use Servant Keeper to make my weekly deposit; to record membership; to print picture directories; to prepare annual giving statements; and to run reports for budgeting purposes.

Cons:

I would like to be able to do accounts payable from the same software in which I track income.

Servant Keeper The Choice in Church Software Innovative and Integrative; Relational Software

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: We have integrated our accounting and membership departments. We have had been able to communicate more effectively and efficiently with the congregation through the SK Notify tools. We are expanding our functionality by adding Event Brite, Check In and Cloud Directory. We anticipate simpler processes and more excellence with the addition of these tools. Having the ability to equip others to utilize the SK tools definitely supports stronger relationships which in turn supports less money for staffing due to the time saved through equipping others. SK continues to impress me with their ability to listen and hear their audience by remaining innovative with their software.

Pros:

The synergy for how all the modules work together. The opportunity to add add on modules when ready both financially and with personnel. The Cloud version is outstanding and the addition of the apps. Time saving! Connectivity at its best! These additions bring the corporation, the leadership and the attendees into relationship because of the tools. Our organization has always appreciated the Support Desk. When i think of Servant Keeper SERVANT always a listening ear and continual support via phone, email or on site trainings. KEEPER committed to excellent support and excellent products.

Cons:

There is definitely a learning curve however the Webinars, Trainings, Tutorials, Support Desk make it possible for anyone to use SK.

The perfect database for the church of the '90s

3.0 4 years ago

Comments: Having used Servant Keeper for 2 years, it did exactly what I needed it to do, but never without some challenges that had to be overcome. Servant Keeper's look and features really feel designed for an older church but a church with a younger staff and demographic would probably find itself better suited with another option.

Pros:

It is a straightforward database system. Running reports is easy. Overall, Servant Keeper provides a nice sampling of features for church management.

Cons:

Is not Mac friendly. If you use a Mac you can find ways to make it work but you will have consistent headaches in doing so. Limited features compared to its main competitors. Looks and feels like it was developed in the '90s and has never really embraced modern technology. The sign-in system is difficult to set-up and maintain and, once again, greets people with a dated look that doesn't appeal to today's families. Customer support is prompt but rarely provides necessary solutions to the issues.

Awesome Servant Keeper!

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: I am able to monitor member personal information, donations, pledges, and interface with QuickBooks for the donations. This has made my job much easier. Thank you!

Pros:

Servant Keeper 7 is easy to use with donations, member info, and attendance monitoring.

Cons:

I have heard that Servant Keeper 8 allows you to email, which would be helpful, but is lacking with Servant Keeper 7.

Want a product that tracks and produces the kind of reports you need? Try SK

5.0 12 months ago

Comments: Again, it's the support that makes this software hum for me. I am pretty good using it but occasionally still need a little help and you guys are always available, helpful and patient.

Pros:

I especially like the support - everyone is knowledgeable and patient. The software is very good as well, and it's now in the cloud for "on the move" access.

Cons:

Least? I'm thinking. I can't really think of what I don't like - wait I know. You have upgrades often and I don't have admin access to my own computer so I always have to ask my Tech guy to come to my desk, log in and accept the update.

Looking for a church donation tracking program? Here is a keeper!

5.0 last year

Comments: Our experience with Servant Keeper has been excellent. It is a great program, reasonably priced, and SK adds functionality to keep it current in the market. It enabled us to open up to donations other than by physical check (which is how the under 30 set prefers to give)! Highly recommended.

Pros:

We are a small church, using spreadsheets to track most finances. We needed an easily understandable program that we could use for donation giving, and produce the year-end donor reports. Servant Keeper fits the bill! We also use the donor tracking capability to be able to do demographic studies of our congregation (location, age, amount given, etc.). We have not yet used the Directory feature, but we expect to do so in a fe months. As we grow it has additional features into which we can grow.

Cons:

I really don't have any cons with respect to Servant Keeper.

Comments: Very good - customer service is excellent and the product is helpful in many ways.

Pros:

Received great customer service today. Product is for the most part pretty good. Saves a lot of time. Useful for tracking donations and maintaining lists of congregants who serve in various capacities.

Cons:

Some of the interfaces don't always work that well. Setting up new financial management program and it is a bit more complex than we anticipated.

Help with getting to know the different levels of Servant Keeper managements was so easy to gash

Pros:

Integration and features added to the app. After getting through the Staff step by step login for the set up.and managing for that was manual for donors that used cash donation. Next was the process of give now for the members and donors giving through the process of their email payments and receipts.

Cons:

I have never disliked servant Keeper use it for membership donation only for over 20 years. Now with getting the donors an for me to track is very good for me and the process of income to the church

SK 8 is by far the best database for churches of the many I've used.

5.0 7 years ago

Comments: The ability to track information about our members, attendees, and visitors. Reports that help us track a myriad of things about our congregation so we can better serve them, each other, our community, and our finances along with protecting our children with accurate and detailed background checks. The online directory helps our people to connect with each other easily, update information at their convenience and is secure with individual login. Our treasurer loves the ease of using the contribution section of this software and the reports generated. Just the ability to customize the software for my particular needs and the fact it is a true Windows program that allows you to copy, cut and paste plus update new information for a family with one click is worth its purchase. Many databases don't do that.

Pros:

It is user-friendly, customizable, and readily accessible from any computer. The cloud based version of SK8 has features like the Greet and Attend for taking attendance at any event and the information goes into the database. It has an online directory that can be accessed by the church and members can update their profile changes themselves. The online directory will upload any JPEG picture such as selfie taken by the member which is great as it gives insight into each person and their family. They have a great background check program. I could go on and on. It has made my service to my church so much easier. One of the other important features is the Help Desk. These dedicated individuals are efficient, courtesy, informative, and endlessly patient. And they all speak understandable English. The company is also very responsive to suggestions for improvement. Many of the suggestions I heard at training sessions have been implemented in subsequent versions since I began using SK6. I highly recommend this software to every church staff member I talk to and those who don't use it are really missing out.

Cons:

Only that it isn't free. I can't really think of any other reason. I know free isn't possible so, like Mary Poppins, it's "practically perfect."

I cant see why reviewers are happy with paying $300 for help desk support

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: The program itself has been useful but reasonable cost customer support is lacking.

Pros:

We were forced into the implementation of this suite of church mgt software after using a simplified program for managing contributions and donations. I personally like the overall way the program performs. The ease of use of initial setup and the week to week use is fairly simple. And the reporting is very useful. However, when you do have an issue and contact the help desk, that is where the compliments ofhigh praise ends. Oh we cant answer that without your purchase of a yearly subscription of only $299.95. REALLY? Granted the purchase of the program was some time ago but at that time it was over $800. We have had some problems with setting up some new groups after a revamp of our organizational goals and trying times during the last few years so we needed to have some guidance as to how to better use some of the features. But to have questions answered we cant do that without paying up front. Oh wait.....we can provide a one time help desk session for $65. Several weeks ago, I spoke with someone on the help desk and she was very pleasant, one of the only times, I have experienced such a delightful experience. I again called hoping that I would speak with her, but nooooo! I guess I spoke with the same fellow I had spoken with several times before and he wouldnt help out without paying the exuberant yearly subscription price. I have gone over the guide book many times and that certainly wasnt helpful at all. And the help file within the program hasnt work

Cons:

Easy to understand guide book that has a useable index and a help file within the program that actually works instead of defaulting to a coding editor.

Servant Keeper...not the best out there.

2.0 6 years ago

Comments: Software functionality is good...but no software is great if it's lacking customer service!

Pros:

I do like having the ability to create contribution statements of annual giving for our congregation. The process is fairly easy and not time consuming.

Cons:

The customer support stinks. Several years ago, the price skyrocketed to support our software version. I understand price increases, but this was ridiculous. What really stunk was that the company didn't let us know that the cost was increasing....they just automatically charged us the new rate without letting us know. When I questioned customer service about it, they were pretty rude, and acted like "how dare I question them." Needless to say, since then we have dropped the customer support completely, and are using the SK software on our own.

Servant Keeper Keeps Serving Us

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Our experience has been great. When we’ve updated the operating systems—either on the host PC or terminals—both the online support articles and customer service have been invaluable.

Pros:

Since we switched to Servant Keeper a number of years ago, I’ve never been disappointed that we made the switch, either from our previous management software or to Servant Keeper. Among the many features I appreciate about this product, I probably most appreciate the ease and flexibility of editing data fields to fit our church family’s needs.

Cons:

Because contact info can be saved for both family profiles and individuals within families, sometimes we find that contact info (such as an email address) may have been updated for a family but not the member of the family who primarily receives information at that point of contact. Getting that information updated in the necessary spots is not difficult (as long as we remember to do so!), but it would be helpful if, when updating such info, Servant Kepper asked the user if the updated info should be applied to the family profile and/or individuals in the family.

We recently upgraded to SK 8 with our database on the Cloud. Technical Support was awesome!

5.0 7 years ago

Pros:

We have used the SK Contributions module for many years and it has worked extremely well. I especially like, that if we make the occasional data entry error, it is a straightforward process to make corrections. Three of our volunteers attended a SK training session last spring and we were impressed with the membership module. We could immediately see how we could use membership features to support many of our ministries. The ease of customizing our database with our own names for various fields is great. The Groups Keeper is an awesome tool and we foresee using it extensively. Although we are still learning the SK Writer functions, we can already see that in conjunction with the Groups Keeper, we will be able to personalize letters, emails, campaigns, etc. Perhaps the most appreciated feature of SK8 is that it resides on the Cloud. This enables all of us to work from home, which is a huge plus for our organization, which is 100% volunteers, except for our minister. Also, we appreciate that our data is backed up daily automatically.

Cons:

There is so much functionality it is easy to "use it or lose it". This says more about us than the software!

Happy with SK for our church

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: My church just signed up for SK8, Cloud, SK moble, and working on SK giving. The experience has been great with the classes online, the help desk. All have answered all questions and concerns as needed.

Pros:

The Administration icon is very important for my use to have control and make sure no one else is able to make changes or if someone else is able to access and make changes I can see who and when. I use the Contribution Manager on a daily basis for Sunday, Bible Study, and any special projects the church has going on. And the Member Profile and great for having all information in each persons profile for contacting birthdays, one person may be a Accountant and someone needs their taxes done, etc. And the help desk is great in explaining my needs.

Cons:

So far there is nothing least about this software.

Servant Keeper is a great product for the price.

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

The price verses quality is exceptional. Servant keeper is easy to use, and does a great job at tracking church membership. All the new features that have come out have made it very competitive with other companies. I especially like the add on of background checks and registration.

Cons:

I am not a fan of how expensive the cloud/ mobile versions are. This is a great feature that many churches could not afford. We had to pick a few staff members to receive the app, and others had to use the traditional site. I also wish each member could establish their own profile.

We liked it but......

3.0 8 years ago

Comments: We have used Servant Keeper for 9-10 years (going by memory). They have steadily improved the product. Moving to the cloud made this platform much more useful for our staff. When it all works - I would give 5 stars on the ratings above. Until this month I would have given nothing less than 4 stars. The Customer Service people are lovely but have no ability to make things happen. There are problems with the speed of the program and at times it freezes up. Part of that is Servant Keeper and part of that is the location where we happen to log in. This year we switched our online giving to Servant Keeper. It was a smooth change over. There is a lag time between the gift being given online and Servant Keeper's posting of the gifts to our account. Then....the yearly giving statements went out this January (which were generated so smoothly). 55 online donations given throughout the year did not show up on the giving statements (the money did go to the account correctly - it just did not show up on the contributor statement). Now we are having to manually correct these statements. Servant Keeper's response to this is they are working on an upgrade (which will cost us) but there has been no visible effort made. This is not acceptable. With the size of our church/staff/options we choose - we have a sizable time and money investment in this platform. Even so, we expect to be leaving Servant Keeper soon. [email protected] Since posting our review 5 hours ago, Servant Keeper has contacted us and corrected problems/offered help in numerous areas and offered us the new update for free. We are very pleased at this renewed enthusiasm to respond. I hope it will soon result in 5 stars across the board & us staying with Servant Keeper.

Hi K, Thanks for reviewing Servant Keeper and for your long loyalty! I'm sorry January was frustrating. If there is a bug causing your online gifts not to post we will fix that and you will not have to pay for that update. While we integrate with many online giving programs, they are operated by third party companies (Vanco, Easy Tithe) and we can only post the data they send. We want to help you resolve that issue so we will be contacting you to do that. Again, thanks for your loyalty and it is an honor to serve your ministry. The Servant Keeper Team

My Experience with Servant Keeper Software

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: S very good which I would recommend to other churches.

Pros:

As the Administrator for the church database, my experience with Servant Keeper has been very positive. I appreciate the expertise of the Help Desk staff who are friendly, considerate and always try their best to answer my questions. Occasionally, when I call with a complicated question, the the representative will suggest logging into my computer which I consider most helpful. I prefer calling instead of using the Chat feature.

Cons:

Sometimes calls to the Help Desk representative are a little longer then I like. When creating reports, there are times when I wish I that I could finish the report in Servant Keeper instead of saving it into an Excel file to complete my project.

Church record keeping at your finger tips

5.0 12 years ago

Comments: Servant Keeper is a great asset to our church record keeping & daily needs of managing our congregation. The financial portion of the program is easy to use. You won't need an accountant to make entries & run a vast array of easy to read reports. Accountants will find the complete information they need as well. The membership manager can maintain a wealth of knowledge about members & visitors. Easy to add & maintain. Reports are simple & can be customized for your specific needs. Overall, the screens are easy to read, progress in logical fashion & allow even users with basic computer knowledge to be successful & not overwhelmed. More experiences users can customize, optimize & utilize the software is countless ways to suit their needs. Customer service is friendly, quick access for help & well trained. Our 3 year history with Servant Keeper has been positive & extremely beneficial to our church. I highly recommend this software for any size congregation.

Pros:

Simple to use. Entry screens are basic and easy to follow. Entry errors are easy to correct. Easy to add new people and catagories while making entries. Members like how detailed yet simple their giving statements are. Clear format for easy understanding. Multiple options are available for statements to customize to your needs for that moment. Reports are easy to read in ways that are simple for councils and chairpersons to review quickly and without additional training. History is quickly accessed and can be used to create an abundance of reports for budgets and church needs. Webinars are informative and helpful. Don't skip them if at all possible. They open new ways of using the software.

Cons:

Pledges can only be tracked per person, not by family, on critical reports. There are ways to work around this by entering the spouse with a zero pledge, but doesn't not quite correct the whole problem there. Not enough con to outweigh all the positive pros though.

Easy to use - Support is incredible!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: We don't use this program to its ultimate ability. We are a small church with a small staff, so there is only so much we can and do track. But it meets our needs (mostly, I have one report I resort to Access for), and it's so easy to use that new employees don't have a problem understanding the basics. I had to contact SK today for help in re-installing a workstation after my computer was replaced. The service provided by the Rep in the Help department was AWESOME!

Pros:

Easy to use. Very versatile. The support is incredible, excellent!

Cons:

I would prefer an easier and more robust customizable reporting feature. Perhaps that's the one area I am simply not knowledgeable enough. I am more used to creating reports in Access databases, which is quite customizable.
